Jim Henson Idea Man
Remember the life. Honor the legacy. Inspire your soul. The new Jim Henson documentary "Idea Man" is now streaming exclusively on Disney+.
Bear arrives on Disney+ The beloved series has been off the air for the past 15 years. Now all four seasons are finally available for a whole new generation.
Jim did not fall ill until late April or early May 1990...the episode aired in January of 1990. I restate, most of the main puppeteers were working on either M@WDW or MV3D at the time.
I dunno, I have some very faint memories from when I was very young...I think it was the fact that I didn't understand what anybody was saying (I used to be afraid of hearing speech that I couldn't understand, for some odd reason).
I know a couple:
#2: scene = carnival / amusement park, music = steel drum
#7: scene = traveling around the world
#9: scene = baseball, music = steel drum
Beaker: The episode's original air date was January 11, 1990. And you're right about [network] reruns being dedicated to Jim Henson (however, the syndicated reruns don't have the dedication at the end...)
Disney: Financial problems. Losing lots of money. Refused to pay EM.TV's original asking price. (Besides, Disney will screw up the Muppets, and turn them into cardboard cut-outs of themselves. Remember what they did to their classic characters? They turned them into mere icons, cardboard...
I will restate: Jim Henson did not work on this special. Jim, as well as Frank and most of the other main puppeteers, were working on something else (since this was made in late 1989, probably The Muppets at Walt Disney World, or MuppetVision 3D).
I think this was being done when Henson was doing MV3D or M@WDW, so most of the main group was busy (that's why Jim and Frank weren't involved, and Richard only did Statler). I do know this was made when Jim was still alive...
It is just a name for Henson Christmas specials. A couple days ago, they showed "Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree", which appeared on the schedule under the "Jim Henson Presents" name...
I think The Count first appeared in 1972 or 1973...so in a few weeks, I think (after they get to Gabi's birth, they'll probably go back to where they left off, with the fifth Unpaved episode from season 1)...
To everyone who thinks Noggin no longer runs classic SS, you're wrong. On late Friday/early Saturday and late Saturday/early Sunday, at 3:30 AM Eastern/12:30 AM Pacific, they do run one classic episode of Sesame Street (so they show two per week).
I couldn't watch this. I just couldn't watch this. I tried for about 20 minutes, but I got bored and changed the channel. The Muppets just haven't been that good since Jim died....:( :( :(
