I disagree. While the Peanuts cartoons are charming and I do love them, I don't think they necessarily had to branch out into animation to become "an institution". Just because a cartoon stays true to its original medium doesn't mean it won't be a success.
TV shows are all well and good (I...
I don't think Jon and Liz are married. They're just dating.
One thing I have learned about newspaper comics in particular is that safety is key, especially in this fragile time for newspapers in general. While I seriously doubt there is ANYONE who buys the paper just for comics, readers may...
My number one was Mokey. Number two, by a close margin was Boober.
It's weird. Besides being interested in art, I never would have thought myself to be at all like Mokey. I thought I'd be more like Wembley.
greenlite, I like your ideas, though I think I'll have a face palm moment if there is too much focus on Bruce not having a girlfriend. There are just too many angsty superheros who can't keep a girlfriend out there and it gets old after a while.
Wait? Are you talking about Spiderman 3? Cause I...
The thing about Nicktoons is that the name implies original Nicktoons so there is room for the other new cartoons automatically. (Not that I wouldn't rather see the old, classic Nicktoons that I grew up with, but that's beside the point.)
Boomerang's name, on the other hand seems to me to...
That's true, but they are also showing shows that have only recently gone off air. I'm not saying that I don't like Boomerang. I just feel as though they are going against their brand. It's fine to show a few newer shows, but I hope it doesn't escalate any more than a few shows.
I think one thing that's wrong with television today is that we have too much choice and not enough choice at the same time. In the early day of television, there were only three channels, but I feel that TV from those days tried to appeal to a wider audience. Now we have hundreds of niche...
I think that's a valid statement, though many people really enjoy looking at soap operas and saying "Man, at least my life isn't that bad!" and are somehow picked up by that. Other people (and even the same people) may look at comedy strip, with happy situations and that happiness rubs off...
For the record, I think I like her old style better as well. Though I'm still going to give the new comic a chance... Though I feel like its going through a slow point at the moment.
While I think it would have been neat to see Calvin and Hobbes as an animated series and I for one would have loved a Hobbes plushie, Bill Watterson seemed adamant about not doing any major marketing for the comic. I think that is admirable. He could have said, "Who cares about tarnishing my...
Okay. I wasn't sure. I knew Betty Boop made a cameo of sorts in one of the Fleischer Studios cartoons, but I didn't know she appeared in the comics. I guess you learn something new every day.
It depends on what you consider "classic". There are many beloved comic strips that never turned into a TV series for some reason or another. We just don't remember them now... perhaps because they never were turned into a TV series. I also keep thinking about comics like Pogo which were not a...
I agree. I think that song is a great example of how people need to step back and realize how fantastic the universe and the world really is. I think I'd go as far as to say it is near the very top of my favorite Fraggle Rock and Richard Hunt song lists. (Well, there's too many songs out there...
I like multitasking. I don't think I would want to watch a movie and listen to music at the same time, but at this moment, I am watching a movie (Singin' in the Rain) and typing this at the same time, all while thinking about what I'm going to do for my senior project for school.
About Jim Davis and Garfield - I've heard he hasn't drawn or at least had to draw Garfield for years. I think he does indeed have other artists who draw the strip... at least from what I've heard from people at my school's Sequential Art department.
That's not necessarily true. Not EVERY...
