If you got it in May, there should still be a factory warrenty on it. Give the company a call, you may have to send it away for awhile, but they should fix it up for you, free of charge. The other downside is, chances are that you'll lose everything on it.

The collar he made out of a molded plastic, (he's a prop designer by trade) and the tongue I believe he just hand sculpted out of foam. Check out the puppetry forums for more info on where to find that kind of stuff...
