WOW Wes, way to take the ball and run with it. Great Job! Keep going! I think it would be cool to pinn this thread. What do the moderators think? I think it could develop into something very large and be very helpful to all aspiring and professional puppeteers! Also, the time frame for...

Cheers,
Just a side note on vacume formers, you can build your own from using a bread pan and a vacume cleaner to larger scale. I have bult the bread pan size to manufacture my own model parts, works well for small things and one could make eyes using this method.

Yep, vacumforming will work to. I did a lot of vacumforming as an intern NASA. One of my projects was to referbish the inside of a Shuttle simulator. Monitors, etc... I have heard of other ways of making domes as well, it involved heated styren and air compressors, crazy stuff.

I get wood spheres from the craft store and make molds of those out RTV silicone and then cast them in plastic. Hollow or solid. If they do not have certain shape or size i then sculpt or mill out the needed shape to be molded.

Cheers,
William
My 2 cents
- paper mache - great material easy to use and strong. Depending on materials used can be inexpensive. With work and patience you can get it very smooth
- fiberglass - one of my favorites - strong but smelly and can be a bit messy to use for the first time. Also, depending on...
Ok, what about doing a 10 second club for puppetry? Animators do this and it yields some great learning oppertunities. Each month we pick an audio line from a movie, like silence of the lambs. Then lip sync to the audio track and submit the movie. I think this could be really fun to do and...
Thanks Mikebackstage.
Hey we are all learning. I figure when I die that is when my learning will end.
My puppets made from latex rubbe, foam, fur, a various glues. I start with a sculpture and then cast it in latex. Than apply fur and clothing as needed.
William
WOW! Thanks everybody for the kind words. It is appreciated. I should point out that my prices on custom puppets are negotiable.
My background is that from doing an internship at NASA in the model shop to working for Lucas Arts as a modeler. Also, lots of animation and character design...
I think price really depends on the puppet type, size, materials used, ect.....Media rights? So, there are lot's of factors that can influence the price of a puppet. Is it the only one? Or is there more than one. Also, it just depends on you are willing to pay for the product. Vent puppets...
