Until I got the "good" version of the original Muppet Show game (the last on in Hollywood Toys no less!) I only had (still have) a cheaper "knock-off" version with drawings done the the children's artist "Smolin".
Different, anyway...
One interesting side note..
Camera shots of Henson sitting in the audience show him very near to an elegantly dressed silver haired woman. The lady was Lillian Disney accepting Walt's induction that night as well. Her last major public appearance.
There actually is a kind of frog that has a collar similar to Kermit's. I don't know what species, but it was something fairly uncommon like a "Yellow Slabovian Tree Frog" or something. I saw a photo of iot many years ago in a naturie magazine and was amaized. I can only assume that's where...
O.K., just to show you I'm not too old..
"BOSOM BUDDIES"-Henry (Peter Scolari) to Kip (Tom Hanks): "The Muppets might be childish, but Jim Henson can buy his own planet!"
"THE TONIGHT SHOW"-Lots, but one I remember, was Johnny Carson doing prop humor at the desk, holding up "Miss Piggy's...
I remember a televison variety show probably very early 1970's that had Jack Benny and George Burns dressed up as Ernie & Bert, complete with big foam heads just showing their faces.
I know..it sounds like I'm nuts, but it was so wierd at the time, that's why I (barely) remember it.
Anyone...
Does anyone besides me remember this network (ABC I think) special? Early 1970's it featured the combined casts of "Seasame Street" (Muppets only) and "The Electric Company" , along with a couple of Guest Stars. Odd sketches included Cookie Monster playing poker with Elliott Gould. I have a...
Does anyone know what's become of The Muppet Mansion? Has Henson completely abandoned it? Is it occupied by anyone? Remodeled? How about the original "Muppets Inc." offices on East 69th Street?
BTW-Does anyone realize that when Henson was on 69th, the offices were located (suposidly) just...
After reading about everyone collecting bits and pieces of Eren's life I realized that I had (somewhere) a rather unconventional souvenier. I had phoned her several times during her last weeks, and again after she had passed to offer condolences to the family. Understandably, I often times...
I think what it comes down to is whether or not we even like the Guest Star to begin with. Personally, I can't stand Mark Hamil. He could recite Shakespear dressed as Queen Victoria and riding a flaming armadillo and I wouldn't be impressed. His over acting, mugging and attempts at comedy...
I know I have (somewhere) one other production shot probably not taken turing an actual take, that I'm sure shows the puppet right near Kermit and th egang. A couple of more eBay auctions, and maybe I will unearth it!
Going back to Frank Oz's original backstory, I think (if I remember) that Piggy was born in a litter of six. I could be wrong since ther was no mention of her sibling's names or whereabouts, and Andy & Randy must have been one of Brian's "creative" contributions.
Maybe Mokey is a little over-looked for what ever reason, but how many people do you named their kid after her? My best friend just did that last week: MOKEY WILLOW
(No joke!)
I'll have to double-check the production shots I have, but if I remember, the puppet is just to the left and slightly behind the group of major Muppet characters. The puppet was lighter in color, and might be obscured by the rainbow scrim. Also, the camera move is pretty fast.
I think most of the framing problems were due to two things. Though a brilliant director and one of my favoites, James Frawley never directed puppets before, and probably didn't have the trained eye for what should remain hidden. Also, the video assist back then meant positioning the video...
