For the first time on YouTube ever...

One thing I don't really understand is the concept of Oscar's can being city property. So if it's city property, wouldn't the city, and not Oscar, have a say in where it is? And it's ironic how at the end, Oscar remarks to Ronald Grump that he hates happy endings, when he was responsible for...

The official ALS Ice Bucket Challenge thread

So many people have posted videos of themselves getting soaked with buckets, I wonder if anybody thought about doing a video where they donate the money. Though it probably wouldn't be as funny. I also wonder if anybody thought about doing it all wrong - either having a bucket of money dumped...

    TV Tropes

I've noticed that a few pages list "acceptable targets" without saying why they are acceptable. The page on The Simpsons lists the elderly as acceptable targets without saying why, though I do know why (on the first season commentary they say that the show makes fun of old people so much because...

Speculation: Sesame Street 45th Anniversary Possibilities

Tonight I had another idea, though I know I've mentioned a similar idea before... But it would be cool if Sesame Workshop could put out "best of" collections for each season on iTunes, each having their own volume. Though I doubt they'd put it all out in one day, and would be a little...

The official ALS Ice Bucket Challenge thread

What I want to know is, what are the consequences for NOT having water dumped or donating to charity if you are challenged? I looked at wikipedia and a few other web pages but couldn't find out anything that happens if you do neither. And if you get challenged after you've already been and...

Sesame Street classic clips on YouTube

That trailer for Save Our Street was great. So we got to hear what Mr. Meanie sounded like (when I heard that voice I thought it sounded like either Marty Robinson or Brian Meehl... Then I found that it wasn't any of the Muppet performers). Wow, in one trailer we see Snuffy standing behind Big...

Your Thoughts: "Jim Henson: The Biography" by Brian Jay Jones

Not only one character, but also only one scene. So did they make you a special copy of the red book, or did they just give away the only one?

Speculation: Sesame Street 45th Anniversary Possibilities

I think I've suggested an idea somewhere where many performances of the same song appear on one release, but a new idea I've had would be a DVD of the songs that have had the most performances... And combine the various renditions in one montage. Like the "C is for Cookie mash-up" that appears...

Your Thoughts: "Jim Henson: The Biography" by Brian Jay Jones

By "correspond", I assume you mean he didn't send any notes, memos, or letters to the Children's Television Workshop, Warner Bros., the director, or anyone else involved with the creative aspects of the film, right? Though I remember seeing an interview with the films director, Ken Kwapis...

You Ever Notice...and What's the Deal...

In Adventures in Babysitting, when the main characters end up in a car right before it gets hot wired, the driver promises to drop them off somewhere after he drops off the car he stole... Why didn't he just drop them off first before going there? It's even pointed out by the bad guys (who give...

    TV Tropes

There's a few things in the section on Man on the Moon that I find interesting: So a movie about an audience-alienating performer is audience-alienating? So maybe it was audience-alienating when the actual events happened, those watching the movie without knowledge of what happened would be...

Where's the love for Rocky and Bullwinkle?

I just read that there's going to be a "Best of Rocky and Bullwinkle Volume 3" DVD, and I've read that it's supposed to tie in with a Bullwinkle movie that's coming out this October. This is the first I've heard about any such Bullwinkle movie, and if it's coming out this October, shouldn't I...

    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Thread

Well, I saw the movie last night. It was decent. Very funny at one point where somebody asks April if the turtles are aliens and she says that that would be stupid (I guess the write did a "take that" towards Michael Bays original concept). So out of all the characters created for the original...

Your Thoughts: "Jim Henson: The Biography" by Brian Jay Jones

Another thing I've wondered, which I have noted previously in this thread: The book does talk a lot about how ACC originally owned the distribution rights to a number of Jim Henson's productions before he purchased the rights, but it also mentions that when he purchased The Dark Crystal (and I...

I don't remember e-mailing you at all about the book (though I know I did e-mail Michael Davis about Street Gang after that book came out).

So It's Come to This: A Clip Show Thread

You misunderstood what I meant. I meant that shows like The Nostalgia Critic seem like they'd be hard to do clip shows because they rely so much on footage from existing productions (in fact I guess it'd be harder to do a clip show for Mystery Science Theater 3000).
