Well he had the gap since childhood when he fell off the jungle gym and some teeth got knocked out. I imagine he had it up until after Down at Fraggle Rock.

I just rewatched the clip on YouTube. He had a pretty pronounced gap in Trading Places, as far as I could tell. So I guess we don't know why he got it fixed then...any further speculation?
