Art Vs Craft, Pricing & the Whathaveyou

Bezalel & RavageFrackle & Gordon brought up a lot of really good points in regards to pricing & art vs craft. I didn't want to completely hijack Mary Kate's thread in regards to copyrights, so I thought I'd post a new topic. (just to be clear that we're all on the same page...

    2 Questions...Feet & Glue (respectively)

    1. I might be able to figure it out without one, but if anyone knows of a good pattern or tutorial for puppet legs & feet, I'd love to find one! I've been Googling with no luck. 2. I'm really pretty down about attaching things. Eyes, horns and the whatnot. I'm using hot glue and it's messy and...

    My puppets as Toys

I was asked to make puppets for a gift shop & an art gallery's giftable art show... I made these guys this week... just thought I'd share :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/staceyrebecca/sets/72157603020342141/

    My Zombie

So I've been wanting to make a zombie for a while now. I've been making lots of puppets this week for an upcoming gallery show I'm doing & for a bookstore in Seattle as well. So tonight I took a break for myself. She'll probably end up going to the gallery. While she's not the greatest puppet in...

    Skype Puppetry?

High quality video chat programs are sweeping the nation. Ok maybe not so much, but they do lend themselves to remote performances around the country. I know I've talked about it in the past with Buck Beaver, & would like to open up the conversation to everyone to get different ideas &...

    Eyes & Glue Troubles...

Ok I'm a bit stumped. I normally use ping pong balls, doll safety eyes, pom-poms or other plastic-y materials. I've glued some wooden beads on this guy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/staceyrebecca/1584142344/ You can see the trouble I'm having already with the glue on the puppet's right eye...

    A question about mics

I've only performed using lavalier mics in the past (and one on a mic stand, but let's not talk about how terribly that went). What's the benefit of using one on a head-band? Which do you prefer?

    Coyotes Commercial

I saw the commercial today! Ok so I kind-of cringed at the manipulation on the monster, but I'm trying to be ok with it. It doesn't mean that I made bad puppets...It just means that most people don't understand that they need to point their hands downward and not open their hands so...

So I just got asked to make puppets for a commerical...

Uhhh. yah.... This is weird. It's a commercial for the Phoenix Coyotes (hockey) starring Wayne Gretzky. Apparently he's some sort of hockey guy or something. They have one puppet made, but forgot about 2 others and need them by Monday! (EEP!) I can do it...I want to do it...I'm just...
