Hey guys,
I'm making some puppets for someone and I don't know that I can spill the beans on the whole project yet, but I know I can post pictures to puppetry forums (I asked specifically) so...anyway, I finally got home with enough light left on the porch to snap some better pictures...
So I've been cranking out (with great joy & vigor) some new finger puppets....but I hesitate posting them here. I mean, you put them on you put this round piece of felt on your finger, its not exactly labor of intense hours. Anyway, is there an interest in seeing the smaller, lactose intolerant...
I've never really shipped puppets that needed to stay pristine before. They usually are just furry monsters, etc.
The ones I'm doing now have wigs with hairstyles that need to not get messed up in the shipping process. Clothing that I'd rather not have shift, etc.
Any suggestions?
Ok not even ranting so much as having a bad day & complaining to people who might understand. But that didn't fit in the title.
I quoted a price to someone that would make all of you people really ashamed of me for it being so darn low. And then the people I quoted it to kinda freaked out...
Hey guys,
The theater where I work has had a lot of puppetry books donated to us over the years and I'm in the process of cataloging and categorizing them. (There are hundreds)
I've so far gone along with the Library of Congress' system (LCCN) however I'm running across books that aren't...
Our theater hosted The Josh and Tamra Show last night. If you're unfamiliar with the show, they're an improv duo from New York that uses puppets. Josh worked with the muppets for about 10 years. Someone can correct me on that if I'm wrong...unless I'm wrong, then no one is allowed to correct me...
So I've just finished my first week of schlepping a show to schools. I had 2 weeks to learn it. Other performers have done it with more time, others with less (hi Jeremy)....
Out of curiosity, has anyone else made a complete idiot out of themselves in front of a group of kinder-2nd graders?
I...
Hey guys!
The secret fun project I was working on JUST got released! Which means I can officially wee in my pants in delight! YARRR
http://video.yahoo.com/watch/2979472/8537568
It's my first real video project, and hopefully not my only one. Maybe uhh..i could rehearse more for the next one...
Hey guys!
So I had this project going back in March and April that kept me pretty busy, I don't think I mentioned a whole lot about it, just because I kept thinking that it wasn't real. (You know how easily things fall through...)
But its real...
I know what *I* do with negative feedback, but even though I can laugh it off, of course it affects me to a certain extent.
I'm curious how many others have experienced pure emotionally charged negative feedback about your work & how you deal with it.
While I'm at it, how do you respond to...
So...remember that little thing I did back in January with the Little Red Riding Hood puppet & the what-not? The film was submitted to an IFP seasonal challenge in January & won 1st place (I announced that bit here). Part of that win, meant that it went on to the final rounds at the Phoenix Film...
Hey guys,
You know how I made some puppets in a very short amount of time awhile back? I think I'd mentioned somewhere that we were going to end up filming something for an independent film competition (done locally in Phoenix through IFP)...
I went to the premier tonight, expecting to show...
I was at the hardware store (good ole Home Depot, not a tiny place..) & went a-looking for heat-shrink tubing to heat and shrink over arm rods & whatever else gets in my way. They had a small variety package of different diameters, but they were no more than 3" long apiece. I asked the guy with...
Beaks are entirely confusing to me. I've tried them on other birds and failed miserably. Ok so I thought I'd figured it out. Turns out I hadn't. I know I'm missing something obvious.
I always push myself to the last-minute. I'm sure not everyone does this as this is one of the most irresponsible things I do in my life & most of you seem to be fairly responsible people.
So, let's say you have a show on the first Friday & Saturday of January. Let's go ahead and say you have...
It's been awhile since I've made any finger puppets. I suppose I needed a break. While I didn't get pictures of my masked chickens, I did get cabbage's photo this evening (with poor lighting, of course)
hope you like him!

i wonder how far in the future, how well it will work & how expensive it will be...
