Scuttlebut has it that was because, since Jerry only had Floyd during the panel discussion, more questions got directed to Steve, Kevin, Bill and Brian and their characters. So Jerry got bored and pretended to fall asleep. The recliner was a gag (and a darn good one, too!)

*covers eyes* Oooh, not the mental image I needed at 1:30 in the morning, Quinn. ;)
Exactly! I don't know about you, but I find it very difficult to think of a character in terms of "this puppeteer's character" and "that puppeteer's character."
Wow. Very well put, Quinn. Very well...
One other thing I thought of: what if Richard asked Jerry or requested that Jerry take on Statler after he passed away? It could explain why Jerry took Statler on again. Plus, they may not have known at the time that Steve could do Statler as well as Kermit and Beaker.
-Kim
So what you're saying is that Jerry doesn't do it the "right" way? I'm just the taddest bit confused on that.
Personally I think it's fitting and sensible that Statler went back into Jerry's hands after Richard's passing. For starters Jerry had an advantage over other performers - he was...
Hear, hear. Heck, most of the time for me there is no "Jim's Kermit" and "Steve's Kermit." He's just Kermit.
Buck-Beaver, are you in (or have you ever considered going into) public speaking?
-Kim
I've got a picture from that scene (kindof). I scanned it fr'm Jim Henson: The Works . It's of Gilda and Beaker in that skit, and Richard's in it too mugging for the camera.
-Kim
Not yet. Red and I are still picking out the furniture (so to speak). Plus we had a little disagreement on just where we're going to put that water slide. ;)
-Kim
Why can't you just post these in the college roommates thread in the Classic Muppets forum instead of spreading them out in three different forums (I'm assuming you're going by whose roommate was in which show)? At least that way you can be sure we'll see them!
-Kim
That's never been mentioned, and frankly I'm not curious about it. Dead or alive there are parts of a person's life that should remain private. And that's one of them.

FAVORITE MOVIE: Muppet Christmas Carol
FAVORITE SONG: "Everyone Matters," "Bless Us All" and "The Peace Carol."
FAVORITE QUOTE:
(Animal and Zoot are playing)
Lady: Hey! Hey you, down there! Hey! Do you know there's a little old lady sleepin' up here?
Zoot: No, but hum a few bars...
*sniggers* Yeah, and then as Pepe's walking away to redo his entrance you can hear Piggy asking something to the effect of, "You have a brain?" The ones with Pepe and Rizzo were funny too, especially since in the interview bits of the show Rizzo STILL was pronouncing "petrie dish" as "pestrie...
Not a problem. Now I had better not forget this list so that I can add on to the information for my website.
That, and get up the courage to write to Jerry Nelson for some of his input...

Uh-oh... *pushes the cookie sampler towards Red* Hide these, and duck and cover!
Cookie, I'm sure if you ask the Count he'll give you some. That's where we got ours!
