Dream big: Fireys
Proviso 1: We have no proof that NECA is considering any figures past Jareth, Hoggle, and those goblins.
Proviso 2: If they do make any more figures, the Fireys might not be among them.
Proviso 3: From my impression of NECA, they're not really the type of company to do what...
Hard to make up my mind
First, I despise unarticulated "action" figures (not that that applies to Palisades Muppets; I'm just griping).
Second, I prefer smaller figures to the size most figures are now. Give me 10cm/4in figures any day over these big hulking Marvel Legends/Spawn/DC Direct-type...
It just occurred to me that what would be even better than a Fizzgig plush would be a Fizzgig hand puppet--so you could open his mouth way too wide like he did in the film. Imagine hiding somewhere and, as soon as someone approaches, making Fizzgig burst out of nowhere flinging open his jaws...
I saw two copies at Best Buy the week it came out, squirrelled away among the zillion other Sesame DVDs, but even though I really want it, I stopped myself from buying and decided I would ask for it for Christmas. Only now I worry the people buying presents for me won't be able to find it!
I've...
Maybe my memory's playing tricks on me, but I don't remember Fizzgig being so . . . brown. Wasn't there, say, white and grey and such around his mouth?
Hmm. Maybe we could convince ourselves to buy this plush by deciding this is actually Fizzgig's rambunctious young nephew Figfizz.
Or...
Oh, wait--
I forgot my obligatory reference to my fantasy "Jim Henson Collection" DVD box set, which would feature numerous shows and commericals and short films from Jim Henson--if we can't get "The Christmas Toy" otherwise, it would fit into that set, with all the great Jim Henson productions...
Sad, sad story
I too wish they would release this! I taped it off TV in the long-ago days gone by (back when it first aired), and then--tragedy!--I later accidently taped over it. I was so SURE I had enough room on the tape before "Christmas Toy" began. . . .
Nothing will relieve this pang...
To be cynical and ruthless . . .
The people making decisions about merchandise--what to make, when to sell it, etc.--do indeed base those decisions partly on whether previous products with the same characters made money. They don't always stop and ask whether bad sales were because of poor...
I wouldn't worry too much about the color of the Sloppy Jalopy . . . I'm sure it just takes on the color of whatever layer of muck and ooze has coated it most recently.
I don't dislike CGI per se--in many shows/movies I love it. It just makes my hackles rise to see characters that were originally puppets turn CGI on Sesame Street, particularly since I can't imagine any need to make the switch.
But, as I said in the Sesame Street season 37 thread, I did enjoy...
A reader's review
I (finally) bought this book, just this morning.
I was greatly disappointed when I read the introduction, in which Terry Jones explains how Froud discovered a 60-million-year-old pot which led him to an ancient chest filled with drawings of goblins by a goblin, drawings...
I'm extremely glad the Unclaimed Baggage people sent this off to be restored instead of letting it rot hideously in a display case. And it does look better than it did, and will presumably last a lot longer now.
That said, the new skin lacks the detailed texture and complex tones of the...
I'm totally in favor of a DVD release for these three. I'd snatch them up first day in the stores.
I haven't actually even seen the Musicians, but I've got the Frog Prince and Hey Cinderella on VHS. A friend and I will periodically sing a line or two of the song "Sweetums Lay Your Ugly Head"...
I was surprised to find out in the "Secret" episode that C-John himself couldn't make decisions; it struck me as not really fitting in with the character. But maybe it does. In the episode they say, basically, "He's indecisive because he can see every side of every issue--which also means he can...
Oscar's new dog
Yay Sesame Street!!
- for having Grungetta on the show! It's great to see her again.
- for giving us a nice song parody with "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Fur."
- for giving us another nice song sung by Luis. He doesn't sing as much as he ought to. (I don't know if this...
Long post, but bear with me
Um, I'm pretty skeptical that any of the images on that site are authentic. But regardless, your comparison of this episode to Chariot of the Gods is fully legitimate. That's a thought-provoking way to look at it. On the other hand, when I watched this Fraggle...
Starting to feel guilty that others aren't getting new episodes
I was thinking today's Sesame Street (Alphabet Roadshow) wasn't all that bad--liked some things, was indifferent to others, with nothing atrocious showing up, and then I saw--
CGI TWIDDLEBUGS! I'm horrified!!
What a travesty...
When I first saw this thread I almost groaned out loud. Another version of A Christmas Carol? Who needs it? It's been done over and over, and once the Muppet-Show Muppets in particular have done it, why Sesame Street?
Then I saw that Oscar was going to sit in Scrooge's seat--and all of a...
Prairie's Food Pageant
Yay Sesame Street!!
- for giving us another musical play by Prairie Dawn!! Double Yay!! It wasn't as good as the classic plays she did, but I'm overjoyed to see this anyway, and I really hope there will be more.
- for showing the Ernie "Plants can grow high . . ." song...
