Oy. Pepe, Pepe, Pepe.
Here's the deal as I see it:
Pepe is a good character. He adds the adult edge, and is a nice contrast to some of the other main characters, for example, Fozzie comes to mind. Pepe is crazy about women and all the material things, whereas Fozzie is, well, a giant...
You might be an obsessed muppet fan if...
Your dream job includes holding your arm up in the air for hours on end.
when watching a muppet something, you talk to (and criticize) the muppeteers, by name... (Steve, your armrods are showing, Jim you're a little too high up, etc.)
back in that other hallway...

Me: I don't think Snidely's in this hall. I mean, I think we've checked behind more doors than I've opened in all the rest of my life combined, and there's no sign of him. I'm starting to think we're moving in...
I LIKED IT! In fact, as soon as it ended, you know what I thought? "Let's watch it again! Oh wait, it's on tv... shoot. Well, um... next movie!" And then I watched MTM, and then about half of GMC, and then I went to sleep.
But anyway, my opinion, to answer your questions:

That kind of bothered me when I saw it. I mean I looked at it and said, "Miss Piggy can't be brunette. I'M brunette!" (I know, there's a major lack in thought process there...)
symbolically, I don't really know what to make of that. I think right now they're just expirimenting with different...

I'm taking a symbolic look at miss piggy's hair. If you don't go for the whole symbolism stuff in books/literature/etc, feel free to skip this post. I don't blame you in the least, I'm honestly shocked at myself for writing this.
Now the first time we see miss piggy...
