Hi TopperFraggle,
Perhaps the way you need to think about the neck is that it IS connected to the body, but only at the bottom of the puppet and it is NOt connected at the top (you are correct about that). If you sew the bottom of the sleeve to the bottom opening of the puppet, you should...
Hey William,
It looks great! You are doing what I wanted to start expeimenting with. Using mechs inside of latex rubber faces is somthing that I thought would work very well. I am assuming it is latex rubber and not foam latex that you are using. I like latex rubber and the life...
I just finished making a cat (click). I think that using Project Puppet's Rotondo pattern and adding two little half ovals on the front for the muzzle of the cat would work well.
Put a couple of triangle ears on as well and you have the right shape for a cat head. The pattern is good to have...
It would be interesting to know what part you played in the creation each puppet.
If you were the builder, character designer, advisor, etc. Is there any way that you can indicate that in each picture caption?
It would also be cool to see some of the sketches that you worked from, as well...
I am a puppet builder, and I have purchased these patterns myself. I must say that anyone who is starting out, or even any more advanced builders who want to experiment with other techniques for building, should definately consider buying them.
I haven't had a chance to use the patterns...
Hey Ben,
I caught that show at the Puppets Up! festival and you guys were excellent. I haven't seen Avenue Q, but I feel as if I did that evening. Very high quality in both voice and puppetry skills. My wife couldn't get over how talented you guys were/are. Keep up the great work!
I...
Hi Pat,
Nice work. Good site. The pictures seem to take a bit of time to load. I would love to see the pictures up closer. Is there some way that you can have those pictures thumbnailed and then have a larger version of the picture once clicked on?
I hope to see more of your...
Hi Steve,
I am sorry you are feeling frustrated. I am sure that was not anyone's intention.
I want to point out my first response was to "practicecactus", that is why I posted.
My second post was in response to your post about wanting something cost effective.
I never responded to...
Hi Steve,
If you just want an inexpensive way to practice, then why not just purchase an old used VHS camera (or dust off one you already have...or even borrow one from a friend/family member, etc.) and hook it up to an old computer monitor? That's what I did years ago when I started out...
In my expecience learning to use the standard monitor where the image in completely reversed (going left makes the puppet go right on the screen) is standard practice.
Every set I have been on has had this type of set up. I have learned from many professionals (some with Muppet performance...
Puppets Up! report part 1
Hello all,
This is the report I promised of how the Puppets Up! festival went. I know I am a bit late with this. I decided to simply put a link to my blog with the report rather than writing it all out again.
Click here for report part 1.
Enjoy.
Good point.
I guess you would have to find out what the actual title would be. Even if I had the word "Occasional" in front it that would be very cool.
Kynan,
You are 100% correct. I spoke with Todd last month and I was the one who got the list of muppet charcters that are being looked for. What I didn't post about was that during my conversation with Todd he said that there would most likely be about 3 understudies per character...
