Hi all,
I posted this on Puppet Buzz, but I thought I would share it here for those of you who don't read the blog. It is a small video project I helped out with years ago.
Grumpy Tiger, Hiding Dragon
Enjoy.
I just confirmed that I will be there. Not sure if I will be there for the two days but at least one and I will be there for some of the workshop days. Should be lots of fun again!
Yet, another great show.
I can tell you with 100% certainty that they are the same
Agreed. I was looking online the other day hoping to find it on DVD, but alas it is not in a box set yet. One day I hope.
For me, I try to take a look at the source of the feedback. What do you think the intention is from the person sharing the feedback. Is it constructive?
For example if I heard, "I really don't like your puppets. I find that they are too generic." I would feel annoyed since it isn't all...
Hey bunnypicnicker,
I love his son's friend as well, he is one of my favourite characters because I knew a kid just like that (well not as extreme) when I was 13 years old.
It is an online series right now, but the more people who start to enjoy it the better chance of it being a tv...
Hey Dan,
Now let's be honest here. This is a puppet built by your company correct (Puppets Magic)? I would then suppose that either you built it or you know very well who did build it.
Not that you were "told the builder worked for Henson". I am confident that you know the exact...
Here is a great little april fools video from Apollo's Pad (created by the Grogs who brought you Mr. Meaty and Nanalan).

I am making a blinking eye mech puppet now. I will take photos, but not sure when I will have time to finish it up. I'll try to put it on my blog when I am done.
A dome for each eye? It may work. It would be an interesting design challenge.
I've made mine with an isosceles trapezoid shape. You can do it any number of ways.
I sew the larger edge to the fur eyebrow fabric and the cut the length to fit when the eyes are in the "closed" position. Sew that end to the puppet's head.
If you want it to contour the eyes then you may...
Use the same fleece but dye it slightly darker/redish tint. You can sew it right on to the antron and it will look like a scar.
If you want to avoid a slight build up of fleece (because of adding a second layer of fleece), you can cut away the strip of original fabric and replace it...
Great designs Brian! I love the Skeptikids angle too. I for one enjoy the paranormal shows that are out there and this is a great twist.
What computer program do you use for your design/layouts? Do you sketch on paper and scan or do you draw right on a tablet? Very nice presentation.
I would think that it's the chemicals in the plastic that your prof was warning about. Would by that thinking it be adviseable to use PVC (plastic pipe) or spraypaint (filled with chemicals) and put it inside your puppet?
I don't personally use the PVC pipe, nor do I have any major concerns...
Hey staceyrebecca,
I actually just picked some up yesterday. You won't find what you need at any of the big stores (all they carry are the precut small lengths). You need to go to an electrical store. They sell it by the package/roll. Just check your local electrical stores and they...
I personally don't. How does that work for you? Do you like it?
As a puppeteer as well as a puppet builder, the comfort of my puppets is as important as the functionality (ease of use) or the asthetics.
I personally hate how my hand feels inside a dish washing glove as it gets sweaty...
They do sell dog collars with the spikes but they can be pricey. Depending on how much you want to spend and how hard you want to look, they are a good option.
I recently went out looking for the same thing for a punk orangutan puppet I have. I ended up using a $10 belt with studs that I...
It is definately an option. I once hand punched hairs into one of my puppets to give him eyebrows and little hairs on his toes. It is a great effect. You just need to have a lot of patience.
P.S. I love the details you add on your finger puppets StaceyRebecca.
(But let's not hijack...
