    Pea Gees Puppet Greeting

Yeah, that's the confusing part. I wasn't sure what the card was for either to tell you the truth, I just like it.

    Pea Gees Puppet Greeting

I really love this video and those pea puppets really are fantastic Sean.

    Cowboy Cactus Puppet Tutorial

This isn't exactly new, but I don't think it's been posted here before so I thought I would mention it...I've just posted a tutorial on PuppetBuilding.com for Cowboy Cactus puppets by Amy Harder, who runs the Puppetry Lab site. It's a fun idea; they're made from Foam Noodles (the ones you buy to...

    Puppet Stage/Theater Blueprints

You can build PVC pipe stages (like the one Foz linked to) so that they break down easily and can be transported in a duffel bag. I worked for a company a few years ago that had several troupes and they did this very successfully.

    Question about making puppets

You can post it on PuppetBuilding.com. I am opening up the site in the next few days so anybody can post articles and tutorials on it. If you want to post the article before I have the public feature ready just email me privately and I'll set you up with an author account.

    Hilarious Puppet Up Sketch

Ugh, no you know what the problem is, it's a really badly designed site with no permalinks. If you go to http://www.tbs.com/shows/puppetup/ then click "video" and then select "Anybody can do it" from the playlist you'll see the video. Sorry about that!

    Hilarious Puppet Up Sketch

Check out this Puppet Up! sketch. It's not so much that the sketch itself is funny, but that they bring an member of the audience on stage to perform a puppet and Brian Henson's puppet has quite a bit of fun teasing the audience member's puppet about her technical mistakes. I think most people...

Free Talking Lips Puppet Pattern & Tutorial

Hi all, I just added a tutorial and free pattern for Talking Lips to PuppetBuilding.com. This is a really simple puppet, but kind of fun to make. I made up the pattern up quickly last week to help out a church that needed to make a bunch of these for a Father's Day show. They were kind enough...

    My latest puppet

I think you're right, if the control was permanently attached it would cause all kinds of problems, especially if the control had to be repaired. I should have mentioned that these were built were so the control attached to the rods via some kind of clip, so it was removable. I would imagine...

    My latest puppet

I have seen puppet designed so that the cable control is incorporated in to the handle on the puppet's arm rod(s) so there's no need for an extra puppeteer. That's a design that seems to work extremely well.

    Big Bird Replica Half-finished

There is a photo of Scooter's head "undressed" in one of the old Muppet books and it looks like his head is just patterned out of sheets of foam. There's actually a Scooter head pattern that someone here made by dissecting a plush toy a few years back.

    Question about making puppets

This is very true. I think it's important to remember that when you buy a pattern you're not just paying for pieces of paper, you're paying for the years of experience the builder uses to make them and you're paying to save the time and energy it takes to figure it all out on your own. That...

    My latest puppet

Yeah, I really like that idea too. Do you mind if I add those photos to one of the articles on puppet mechs on the Puppet Building Wiki?

    Plaskitt Lecture

This seems to be sadly typical of most struggling puppet guilds and organizations, they expect support from people rather than offering it. If you're a business and you say "please buy my products, we're a really great business and we have a great history" you're not going to stay in business...

    Question about making puppets

Check out the articles on eyelid mechanisms and moving eyes on The Puppet Building Wiki. I have a lot of information and links available on PuppetBuilding.com that you may find helpful and this forum is jam packed with information on just about every aspect of foam puppet construction if you...

    Question about making puppets

It's a combination of the stitch used and the pile (or "fuzz") on the fabric hiding the seams. See the "antron fleece" link above for more details.

    Plaskitt Lecture

The problem - I believe any way - with most puppetry organizations is that especially after they have been around for awhile they begin to simply assume they have a right to exist and the membership should support them, rather than the organization supporting the membership. In other words, they...

    Plaskitt Lecture

It's a shame to hear that such a great event wasn't better attended. One area where I think all the puppetry organizations like UNIMA, PofA, PUK, etc. need to do a much better job is outreach. Many of these organizations are challenged with shrinking membership and poor attendance at events...

    Question about making puppets

The pattern can be scaled up or down, I usually scale patterns using a photocopier or on the computer. As for fleece, the actual Kermit puppet is made using a custom fabric you can't buy in stores, but Antron fleece works nicely. It's available through Georgia Stage in the US (there is no UK...

    My latest puppet

That looks great. What type of mechanism did you use for the eyes/brows? Can they be moved independently, or are they linked together?
