Hey all,
What do the soles of full-body puppets' feet tend to be made of?
Big Bird, for example -- the bottoms of his feet look like the same type of fabric as the rest of his body, and yet he can walk without slipping on surfaces ranging from grass to the Great Wall of China. Is there an...
Cool. I've used a similar, but less complicated, setup for performing a puppet in a cardboard box.
There's a photo of it here:

Hey everybody,
I just uploaded a new puppet video to my website at http://theabstractions.com/sepiatone.html .
You may have seen an old version of this video on my Youtube channel. But this one has music and it's done with Czech black theatre where the performers are invisible.
I've...
You should totally go check out my new puppet music video, viewable here:
http://theabstractions.com/cipher.html
It's for a singer/songwriter friend of mine from university.
Grant Harding here. The video Tom's talking about can be found here: http://theabstractions.com/hand.html
Basically each finger has a thread running down it, through bits of plastic straw. On the backs of the fingers are elastic band pieces that pull the hand open again. The threads run...
Puppet complete!
I'm bringing this topic back, because the puppet with the working hand is finally finished!
Here he is:

His name is Moss. Let me know what you think!
I've got a new video up on Youtube... It's nothing spectacular, but what the heck.

My friend Kellen Barrett is performing the hands. Incidentally, he's a great musician, and you should all check out his website.
In the same sort of vein as William Hennes' animatronic alien head (although decidedly lower-tech!), here's a little something I've been working on.

It's some test footage for a new puppet I'm building, a hand-and-rod puppet with a working left hand...
Hey Ben,
This is Grant Harding, who you met at Puppets Up this summer.
One idea that comes to mind is what they did on the old marionette TV show "Stingray" (by the same people who did "Thunderbirds"). For underwater scenes, they had a narrow fish tank between the camera and the puppets...
Yeah, it is Robin for 4 and Rowlf for 8.
And #10 is Statler and Waldorf.
And this version (the album version) is indeed different from the version in the special (where Kermit sang #2). I haven't seen the special, though, so that's all I know.
There are, however, designated birthdays for many Sesame Street characters, including Kermit.
See the very bottom of this page:

Both that one and another that also played before movies, called "Don't Forget to Watch the Movie", are available at Scarecroe's website:
http://www.scarecroe.com/files/loews_abhoc_med.mov and http://www.scarecroe.com/files/loews_dftwtm_lg.mov
They're both really excellent, well-done...
Hey everybody.
Does anyone have a sound file (mp3 or otherwise) of the bird in Elmo's alarm clock (from Elmo in Grouchland) shouting "WAKE UP!!!!"?
Thanks,
