Kid, you weren't even alive when the Berlin Wall came down! This heavy stance you pose could only possibly be based purely on retro-active rhetoric. Much of the humor in today's Muppet stuff involves allusions and references - things that fly above the heads of those born after the seventies...
The special after Jim Henson died. I well up thinking about it.
See, my whole Drama class in high school started weeping that day in 1990. For those too young to remember, it was one of those things where people remember exactly what they were doing when they found out.
They may have tarinished from their glory days, and we all know why.
But come on now, their recent stuff is still likeable! There is worse stuff out there! I really liked (and own) Muppets From Space and It's a Very Merry Muppet... . I'll likely get around to buying Oz, too. I'd take those...
Nah, I just meant it for anyone else who grew up when I did. EVERYONE watched the Muppet Show back then. I mean everyone! We didn't have the channels like today at all, but if your house had cable, shows were like events.
:p
I was born in 1973, so I guess my era starts somewhere around season seven (1975-1976) until when The Empire Strikes Back came out! I remember laughing in the theatre with my brother when Yoda spoke saying "Grover! Grover!"
Yes, that is generally a British thing traditionally, one which Canadians have inherited too, apparently.
We're like the worst of both worlds. Actually, we're even worse than that if you count the French.
