That's a really cool vid so far darkranth!.....I like how they all look so far. Especially Trekkie. I like how you're carving them. Can't wait to see the finished puppets!
yea....I've done it....it smells really bad (actually kind of sweet) and a lot of smoke comes from it.---if you were to do it, do it outside and with a respirator.----I've done it in my closed off puppet room in my basement with the door closed & no windows.....you can stand it....but it isn't...
Whoa....that's an interesting fact about hot glue....it's kind of one of those annoying facts you find out only after a long time of doing it.....bother.....well, I know I've never liked the sweet/tangy smell of the glue on the foam...sheesh...
I also use scissors for cutting foam--but it also...
That Was helpful!....Thanks a lot. From those previous Terry Angus drawings/pics I thought the trigger had to wrap around your middle finger. But yours is a lot more useful.
hmmmm......The main link works for me, but when I go to the directory & click on "Blinking eye mech 1 & 2" it comes up with broken pictures & says it's being posted or is under construction.
I personally thing Project Puppet is more useful. The foam book is nice to look at.....but I've never used the techniques it shows because it's not what I'm going for. It's a nice idea book though.
but project puppet is much more worthwhile. & you could probably find the foam book at a library.
I also recommend project puppet as a starting point. It opened my eyes to how puppet shapes are done & has really helped me learn to pattern my own basic shapes. It's an investment well made.
I don't think they look similar. I see lots of differences between the two. Starting with the head shape, then the color, eyes and then clothes. Really all I see that's the same is that they're pigs and they're wearing brown clothing.
Im near Detroit & there's actually a puppet store around here. They sell mostly how to books, play books, and puppets for schools etc.....
......It's not that useful for me though...
Yea......That's exactly what I do.
You don't need contact cement for it. Just the duct tape, it's sticky enough to stay that way. Personally though....I don't just use one piece I use two pieces. One for the back & one for the front that overlaps.
I don't recommend it...
but someone took apart Kermit, layed out the pieces & took a photo....I looked for the photo to post for you....but I gave up. (sorry) But you won't be able to make a puppet from it. You would only be able to look at the pattern for parts of him....like the head. A lot...
You don't have to glue the duct tape onto the poster board. The tape can stay on itself....You can just stick it on....the glue just makes it slip & slide.
