A lot of people criticize the Garfield comic strip for being overly-merchandised, and I think Jim Davis has admitted that he wanted the character to be marketable. But if licensing was really important to Jim Davis, shouldn't there have been more characters in the comic strip?
The main...
Is it just me, or did the Peanuts specials become more "kiddie" in the 1990s? I haven't seen any of the '90s specials in years, but I remember "It's Spring Training, Charlie Brown" being a bit more juvenile (especially with that one song), while I haven't seen it It's My Best Birthday Ever...
After reading the Junior Novel and watching all the footage and such that's been online, I'd like to make lists of similarities between this and The Great Muppet Caper, and simialrities between this and The Muppets Take Manhattan. Maybe that'd be better to do after I see the finished movie, as...
I don't see it as similar to Hey a Movie (except for the brief cameo by Dominique, which is similar and sorta-random to Nickey Holiday's cameo in that number). It looks more like a cross between "Right Where We Belong" and "Miss Piggy's Fantasy". Actually, after listening to the song in my head...
I read on the Tough Pigs forum that Craig Shemin recently revealed that he wanted to include Spamela Hamderson, but Disney said no because the company was afraid Pamela Anderson would sue. But she's a parody, Pamela Anderson could really sue over it? Was Disney afraid of such a lawsuit when they...
People have been speculating whether all the characters in The Muppets Character Encyclopedia will be in this, and have pointed out characters who don't appear in the book. I must point out that those flamingos aren't in the book.
In the section on Whatnots, I noticed two who look like Zeke. One is dressed as a jungle man, without sunglasses (and his eyes there look like Zeke's eyes in Rocky Mountain Holiday), appearing with a jungle girl who looks like Lou. And then Zeke is shown dressed in a leather jacket.
There's...
It says that throughout post-production of The Muppets Take Manhattan, Frank Oz kept asking Jim to have the opening credits say "A Frank Oz Film", and Jim just saying "we'll see" before he finally got what he wanted. But most films have "A (directors name) Film" before the title. I wonder why...
I didn't really see any similarities to "Hey a Movie" in that. The only similarites I noticed were Kermit suddenly being in an outfit and a cameo by the bad guy.
The book also has the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, who I doubt will return for anything again. Also the Cratchet children, and the Sam and Friends cast.
Top ten least favorite Peanuts specials:
10. It's the Pied Piper, Charlie Brown
9. You're a Good Sport, Charlie Brown
8. Charlie Brown's Christmas Tales
7. Life's a Circus, Charlie Brown
6. I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown
5. She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown
4. Snoopy's...
When the book talks about The Jim Henson Hour's time slot, it says that the show had no "real competition", mentioning that it was on opposite Beauty and the Beast (which I hadn't heard of, but afterwards learned that it had at least three seasons) and Perfect Strangers and Full House. So...
One thing I've noticed about the show is that, while The Muppet Show and Muppets Tonight allowed many of their guest stars to show off talents that they weren't known for, it seems all of the guest stars on The Jim Henson Hour did what they were known for and nothing else. None of the...
By "readily available" do you mean easier to find in the archives?
Yeah, if they used the syndication cuts, the original opening and first few closings would have been missing. I wonder if any of the main Garfield or U.S. Acres segments were shortened in syndication.
For years I thought...
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like when fans desire a new Muppet show, and I'm not talking about the fans here or at Tough Pigs, it seems they want it to be a sixth season of The Muppet Show, only made now, with guest stars and songs that came out since the fifth season, and maybe with some...
Does anybody happen to know why the master tapes used for the Garfield and Friends DVD sets were the non-American copies? Were those master tapes in better condition/quality, or were those just more uncut than the American ones, or even no reason at all? Or did they do that as an excuse to avoid...
