Oh I don't think it was a defined character we'd seen before. Rather it was the sort of character Richard would have played. The album is full of "extra" monsters as well as the regulars we're familar with like Grover and Herry. (Back when more than one monster could be featured on a Sesame...
Exactly, very well put, that's what I was trying to say. I can't think of too many kids shows that included so many Monster characters as good guys, while still maintaining their edge!
Yeah the song was great, I was sitting there thinking "Oh this is such a sweet moment." Then that one...
Yeah I've heard of the Up and Down one, I hope I get to see that eventually!
Oh and the phone call sketch is also great for all its in jokes about the opera world! As usual, Sesame Street used jokes that paid off for kids later in life.
Oh my...lol...I was listening to MC radio the other...
Yup that was Dot Warner's full name! Lol
Yeah I've heard the Piggy Lee and Pigathius comments. The Pigathius thing is likely a joke, but I think they might have (very) briefly considered using the Piggy Lee thing. You can barely hear Kermit say it and he says it very casually, not like a joke.
Hmm, if TP does say the fly thing was accidental in the final film, I don't believe that's correct. I'll check the movie out some time again but I'm pretty sure. The shot of Sweetums actually hitting the fly looks kinda accidental (probably because it's hard to hit a fly exactly where you want...
When I was very young I went to a friend's party at a restaurant and Big Bird was there (or rather a person other than Carroll playing Big Bird, but he was really good!).
When he had to leave at the end he kept saying "See you on TV!", meaning he was trying to get us to say that to him. But...
Probably Luis, he was always very attractive, hehe. And maybe that guy who was on the show in the '80s, the grown-up who couldn't read. I can't remember his name now.
They could tell he was coning them, given their reaction after the "detachable fenders" thing and their glee after the 12 dollar trade in. And the fly thing is a bit awkward but it was intentional. I believe Tough Pigs describes how this scene changed a bit in different versions of the script...
It is obviously so shocking and so horrible. I'll pray for all the people and families involved. Our country has hit a low point of its own. Eventually there will be a light at the end of the tunnel, but I don't know when that will be.
I know next to nothing about the person (or persons) who...
Well at the time I really disliked them. They were just kinda fluffy pop and nothing more, plus questionable role models for girls (plus their film was basically a copy of the Beatles' first film!). But looking back their songs were very pleasant and catchy. And while I could have done without...
Heh, yeah you know I never thought of that before! Lol
Yeah that's the first thing I thought too! Lol It's OK, academic stress messes with the brain. Ohh good luck on the eye exam!
Oh yay! Another performance by the amazingly talented Placido Flamingo!

There is room for all opinions.
Though we do tend to say the same things about the debate over and over. I'm not sure we really listen to each other all the time, myself included.
And yes the show is meant for children, but exposing them to simple "baby humor" does not help their...
The Muppet Show aired from 1976 to 1981. The Muppet Movie was released in 1979. So if audiences were regularly keeping up with The Muppet Show, they would have already been familiar with Sweetums. And judging from the 1st season DVD, his persona from the beginning was more the 'intimidating...
