Yeah sometimes distance can help, depending on the situation. Also looking for outside advice from professionals for yourself. Good luck with everything! :)
::shrugs:: Sometimes Rap is good, it's just my opinion that we don't hear it's good side very much!
My TV watching wasn't hugely monitored my parents, but I was definitely raised to recognize the good and bad programs. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I'd have the same confidence when I have kids...
I loved John Candy in Splash. It's one of my favorite movies, especially his speech to Tom Hanks' character about people falling in love.
Cool Runnings and Home Alone were great too!
Yay, I found the link again! It was on google book search. The book was from 2001 and called Breaking Autism's Barriers, by Bill Davis. I don't think the link will work on here, but here's the quote. Turns how there were quite a few Muppet references, I'll include mostly those here:

I agree, kids don't discriminate about new and old as much as we seem to think they do. I'm not a child psychology expert, but it seems every few years they're always coming out with some new trend regarding children, what they like, the way they learn etc. But in reality, these trends may speak...

Yeah, well they might at some point, you never know. They eventually moved away from the Around the Corner era (which I didn't mind too much, but just trying to make a point.) :)
Oh man, now I'VE done it! Sorry Skye, I swear I saw Kiki's name, lol! Anyway, I'm glad the graduation went well. It's always good when the speeches are worth listening to. And big and bold, very appropriate! I hope you're inspired to be bold as you continue on after college. ;)
Yeah I know, I...
Aww, that really is a nice story, Kiki! I had to look up a picture of what peonies look like, I wasn't that familiar with them either, lol. (My favorite's the rose). But they are very pretty, so colorful! I can see why he liked them. And congrats on graduation, did it go well?
Oh man, ok...
