It's a lovely picture of all the Henson kids together too - i am SO Pleased for them, and right near to the anniversary of Jim's death too ! It's very touching and right. Whether it's a good business move - who knows ? As a Muppet fan though - it's fantastic !
No, Eisner was never interested in Henson when he first took control - Jim approached him but he didn't think the Muppets were hot enough. A few years later when Henson were doing more stuff, Henson approached Eisner again and then you got the failed merger we all know about and they were the...
Here's another article on it, more info on the Creature Shop involvement :-
Branagh to star in E Nesbitt film
Kenneth Branagh and Eddie Izzard are to star in a £14 million film of E Nesbit's classic children's novel Five Children and It.
Freddie Highmore will also appear in the movie...
There were fairly solid plans for New York in March 2003 - it even made official Henson marketing releases (i think Quinn mentioned in his NY visit it was even on their calendar) and things like that. Obviously it was cancelled towards the end of 2002 - i guess when it became clear that the...
You could even go pre-84. There was the time when Jim wanted to buy Disney. Then there was the first time Jim asked Eisner to buy the Henson Company and he said the Muppets weren't hot enough and to go away (in polite terms).
Y'see Jim Hill didn't tell ya about all that ! Huh Huh ?
He...
Yeah this doesn't change the whole DVD thing at all - if anything EMTV was MORE into getting all the product out there than Henson themsevles. Unfortunately complete seasons of TMS and Fraggle are very specialist (not many people gonna drop down $300) and it's hard for them to find a...
Rowlf was scheduled to be the third Mega, if they had been released one a wave - meaning Mega Nekkid Rowlf would have been out the same time as Series 3. This is the reason he was released first in a Tux and then it was too late to change back after they knew the Mega's weren't selling well...
It probably wouldn't be this year - venues in NY (especially Theaters) probably need to be pre-booked about 6-8 months in advance (if not more) and before they even got to that, they'd have to do a plan for what they wanted to do there, how much it would cost, get Creation (if they use them...
Yeah the TV series was very good - those interested can see the Psammead puppet (non Henson built) used in the TV series at :- http://www.alangroves.com/gallery/gal03/05.htm
I would imagine this will be made in England as the whole original story is set in England. It's a very mystical type...
Re: If Henson were really genorouse...
Unfortunatelty the Henson licensing guys don't see it this way - Palisades has a movie license and they can't even make figures of the Muppet Babies puppets that appeared in the movie. Each 'themed' property is apparently viewed as a completely...
It's not as simple as crediting each other, but yes, it's quite possible they could work a deal if they really wanted. Do they want to though ? I guess there is the advantage of cross-promotion but Sesame is a pre-school show and the Muppets are trying to go 'edgy' - it's going to look a...
Y'know in the film Beetlejuice where the bird pops out of his head, he has holes in his back, looks totally dead? I think it's kinda like that in a crusty dusty sort of way.
Well the Muppets are high cost puppets - they can only justify the money to rebuild them if they are actually going to get used. Hence the reason why most of the TMS background characters are gone and there aren't any plans to rebuild the Fraggles.
It's not a glitch - Vbulletin (this software) keeps people listed as 'online' for a certain amount of minutes even if they leave the site. Which actually makes the total number of users online thing useless.
Yeah i completely agree that the general public will always see the Sesame characters as Muppet related. As i said, it's a business divide - but that does mean more than just a formality as had been implied.
