I just got a look at that Lorax clip.
Aw great. Now I gotta go buy the soundtrack.
That was an AWESOME villain song. I'm sure that was the best part of the film. Much better than the Ice Age villain song (and that was pretty good too)... and DEFINITELY much better than the weird rap...
You hit the nail on the head. JHC is still family (more or less) run and owned and a testament to the legacy of Jim. That's why the kids only sold The Muppets and Bear (which they've done nothing with) to Disney, and kept everything else they had to themselves. Though I'd tend to think Disney...
I'd say Jim Carrey's name being attached to it was a big part of it. I liked it, but Steve Carrel, Amy Pohler, Carol Burnett, and ...well, everyone besides Jim Carrey carried the film. Not that I dislike him, of course... he's more memorable in live action. As a voice actor, he just sounds...
Charlie is the biggest ham of a voice actor there is, and we all love him for it. Cow and Chicken is one of my favorite cartoons because he just has such a ball voicing all 5 of his characters (including I.R. Baboon, of course). Those are the wackiest, most manic cartoon voices ever recorded...
I have to admit, the live action one wasn't that bad. You just really have to like Jim Carrey to enjoy it, and I did back then. I liked some of the concepts they added to the story. Not so much over the classic book/special, but it was a pretty good alternate character interpretation. The...
Yeah, really!
All because the Lorax was a hit, mind you. I thought Super Hero movies were the only things that needed multiple reboots. Can't wait to see how they'll screw this one up.
Anyone going to bother with Escape from Planet Earth? It looks like it could have been a good movie, but once again the worst run entertainment company in the world screwed around with it (it was in development since 2007) and there was a huge lawsuit as a result. Not a good sign. Especially...
Dave the Barbarian was pretty underrated. it was almost as funny as Doug Langdale's other cartoon show, Earthworm Jim (He wrote most of the episodes of that series, anyway). Never really cared for his Teamo Supreamo, though.
The main story was quite hilarious, despite the fact the entire thing was just another STEAM based episode. Nice to see Alan act like the child and Telly be the adult for a change. But you got to wonder, if LMNOP was a pop star, why did he need a guitar in the first place since pop stars don't...
Exactly. Sesame Street is the is the definition of Fleeting Demographic Rule. I don't see why they don't remake more old street stories (they did for a time), as the intended demographic wouldn't know the difference. That's what Doraemon does. It's been on since 1973, and they have been...
And they reference other MAD agents. There's still all that damage done by the first movie (refusal to call the city Metro City, Brain being a live action dog and the Gadget Mobile talking), but it manages to actually be Inspector Gadget like. French does a better job, albeit he's quite whiny...
Unless there's a Doug situation, Nickelodeon would still own those shows. At the very least, the ones produced by Nickelodeon.
That drives me nuts because A) they're clearly rushing to the next generation of game platform (all companies) and B) it just came out and there's hardly any...
They did it again. Debbie Weaver was talking about how she had a discussion with her daughter after seeing MTM. Her daughter had strange dreams about Gonzo. I wish I had the exact quote, but it was an extended exchange about Gonzo. They really love the Muppets there.
The second Scooby film is much better. They dropped all the lame Brady Bunch movie style riffs and used the shows continuity for good. It's a film the first film should have been. And best of all, it's coherent. Plus you get to see Scott MacNeil in a rare live action role.
But I agree...
Terrible but true fact. The inclusion of Scrappy-Doo actually saved the Scooby-Doo series.
As for reasons why people hate him, well... he comes on too strong, he's very much an annoying presence when he first appears (that was the point of the Itchy and Scratchy and Poochy episode of the...
