I've been wondering the same thing actually. I mean, they might still go on since it's just the actors and there's not much of a stage. Also, not all the shows are closed because of the strike.
"On the first episode, Oscar seems irredeemably miserable — hypersensitive, sarcastic, misanthropic. (Bert, too, is described as grouchy; none of the characters, in fact, is especially sunshiney except maybe Ernie, who also seems slow.) “We might not be able to create a character like Oscar...
That's a good point and we do often forget that. Though, at the same time, the people involved with Sesame Street have also described the creative process as a collaboration, and that they couldn't have done it without Jim and his vision. :)
CGI can be and is often great and impressive. But it's still in its infancy, and in my opinion, it's used way too much. Beowulf, unfortunately, is a perfect example (this film was also disapointing for its dialogue, content and disrespectul nature, in my opinion). SPOILERS
All the human...
It sort of reminds me of the Oscars when they do the montage of people in the entertainment industry who have passed away in the last year. If the audience hasn't heard of a person, they don't applaud. Which I find very rude and arrogant. Everyone will die someday, and those people should be...
About the cut Maria and David thing, it's probably that they just wanted to avoid confusion since kids know Maria is married to Luis. Or maybe it was a copyright issue as has been suggested. I honestly don't believe there was any malice intended.
However, as far as the original relationship...
Yeah it's very hard to build up a rapport with kids, it can take time. And also, filming a TV show involves a lot of sitting around and waiting, I'm not surprised if the kids looked bored. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing all this!
You're entitled to your opinion, and perhaps I got really into the writing, lol. But I don't take back what I said. :)
Well, it is true that anyone can play in a construction site if they really wanted to. However, the standard of living can have a lot to do with it. And I'm not putting anyone...
Oh wow, that's great! Well I'm happy to have share that story with you! I'm glad your brother loves Sesame Street so much and Richard's characters especially. I actually had the same experience as a kid from a Muppet special. I loved The Muppets Go to the Movies, and it turned out years later...
That's true, it's good to make the time you have with your child count. I get the impression parents do just trust that kids TV shows will be adequate. I don't think we can afford to have that trust nowadays. And that's part of the reason Sesame Street was made accessible to parents in the first...
Ah cool, BeakerSqueedom!
I posted this on the thread awhile ago, but not sure if you saw it. There was a book review about a father who wrote about his Autisic son. We found this passage very intriging!
"Chris also liked to spell corporate logos before he was even three years old...Some of...
I agree, there's this huge myth building up that kids can't handle things. The show is not respecting children by saying things like that. It's treating them like less than human beings who need to be spoon fed everything. As if adults are so much smarter (heh). Contrary to popular belief, this...
Yes I know what sketch you mean. And I didn't mean to imply you thought everyone lived in the suburbs. I apologize if it seemed that way. :)
But I still stand by what I say. They weren't exactly encouraging it, they were reflecting reality. If you don't have anywhere else to go, a TV show...
Well honestly I've seen that with many DVD sets, the first one's great, and then they relax a bit on the second. To be honest, I felt the same way about the Fraggle sets. The Extras for Season 1 were phenomenonal. Season 2 was also great, but not quite as extensive. But then Season 3 was...
