What did Waldorf and Statler do in Oz?

Okay. Thanks for the info, DannyRWW. I was thinking after I posted the first time that there may have been such characters in the book, but I really couldn't remember for sure. It's been quite a while since I've read that book. :-)

What did Waldorf and Statler do in Oz?

I've read "The Wizard of Oz" by Frank L. Baum and I don't remember any characters like Statler and Waldorf's being in the book. Granted, it's been quite a few years since I've read it, but more than likely they were just invented for the movie.

Thanks mike and geebee! The Mumford and Maria's age change sketch memories are definitely coming back now! Can anyone possibly fill in the details on the other sketch and episode I mentioned? thanks. :)

    Harvey Kneeslapper #3

I remember Harvey Kneeslapper and most of his appearances consisted of him making a corny joke and slapping either a number or letter on someone shirt and running off, laughing hysterically while the other person looked peeved. I don't remember the #3 sketch in question right off-hand though...

"Swashbuckle", "Mumford changes Maria's age sketch

Yeah, hopefully someone can make an extremely detailed Sesame Street episode guide someday, with all the sketches and songs listed. That would be some project though! :-)

"Swashbuckle", "Mumford changes Maria's age sketch

Thanks for replying. I think the "quack like a duck" bit sounds familiar too. And the "Swashbuckle" story does sound familiar too. What exactly was it though? I think it was Luis telling a story about pirates and he enacted the role of one of them, but I don't remember the rest. Anyone else...

    Favorite Sleep Sketches

Well, I was going to say the songs "Everybody Sleeps" and "Dance Myself to Sleep" but I guess those are out of the running due to overplay. But anyway, there's lots of great sketches with Ernie and Bert in their respective beds. Also, there's a good one with Grover in his bed talking about...

"Swashbuckle", "Mumford changes Maria's age sketch

Okay, after reading through Sesame Street Guy's Sesame Street episode guide, some old SS memories have been stirred up and I'm trying to remember the full details now. Does anyone else remember Luis reading the "Swashbuckle" story? I seem to recall him acting out the part of this pirate...

    Favorite Typewriter Sketch

Oh yeah! I loved those little typewriter cartoons! The "v" one with vaccuum is pretty good, where the typewriter gets himself sucked in by the vaccuum cleaner at the end! I knew a dude in high school who was definitely into the typewriter. That was his thing! This is so funny too. He would...

You spend loads of time on MC if...

You make jokes and references to The Muppet Show in everyday life and get upset at everyone else who doesn't get the joke when to you this should be "common knowledge"! (ooh, got myself on that one! :) ) You mystify your other friends by referring to all your MC friends by their user...

    M.U.P.P.E.T.S. not Muppets!

that's right. I remember that now. (I'm not an avid Linux user, but I should have known that! :-) ) But I still think Tux looks like a Muppet from a distance.

    M.U.P.P.E.T.S. not Muppets!

Did you notice the logo by the Software download window? It looks like they've got a Muppet of their own for the logo. Makes sense. cool.

    Old Sesame Sketches

I definitely remember the sketch with the two muppets trying to get a nectarine. That one's been buried in the back of my mind for years! It was also one of the kinda freaky Sesame Street sketches. :concern: I don't know how to describe it. It wasn't really scary, just sort of surreal. I...

    Radar Vs. Radar

From what I understand, I've always heard that Big Bird's teddy bear was named after Radar on M*A*S*H. Of course, that's assuming Big Bird didn't get his teddy bear until after 1972 or that it wasn't named until after 1972. (Sesame Street started in 1969 and M*A*S*H started in 1972 and ran...

Mike appreciation thread! (anybody remember him?)

Well, I was just watching a 1990 released Sesame Street video "Dance Along" the other night. Besides having lots of great songs, it was hosted by Big Bird, Gina, and Mike!!! Wow! I totally forgot about Mike! After watching the video, I definitely remember him being on Sesame Street, but it...

Your Thoughts: The Muppets' Wizard of Oz

hmmm....well, I just finished watching The Muppets' Wizard of Oz and I have to say I thought it was pretty good. There are quite a few good points I can mention. For one thing, I thought the movie stayed pretty close to the book and the 1939 movie. (from what I understand, even the Judy...
