I loved this sketch/song. I wish I had a copy of it. It basically starts of with the old man going to his wife:
There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza
There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, a hole
The wife responds with:
So fix it, dear Henry, dear Henry
So fix it, dear...
Actually, despite having heard Maria and Luis speak spanish on the street segments, it wasn't until I caught an episode on American television while on vacation in the States that I realized they did Spanish inserts instead of French ones. I guess as a kid, it never occured to me there would be...
I remember that too. It was only the grown-ups that never saw Snuffy before. Of course, they were just as unlikely to believe the kids as they were Big Bird, so it didn't matter.
What I missed after he "came out" was that music that always played whenever he was coming into a scene.
Because in Canada, we have two official languages, English and French(although a lot of Canadians only speak one or the other). Spanish is not as predominent here. Sesame Street aired on CBC here in Canada. And it only aired the Canadian version(which was pretty much the same as the American...
I remember this one. The lady wanted a coat that was blue & furry so the salesman got her a brown furry coat. She said it wasn't blue. So the salesman gets her a blue coat that's not furry, and the lady says she wanted something furry. Frustrated, the salesman aplogizes to the lady and says...
Just out of curiosity, how do they determine a Muppet character's birthday? Do they use the date he debuted? Is it random? Or is there some other formula for figuring out when their birthday is?
I believe Brian said in the commentary track that the original plan was for existing muppet characters to play the 3 ghosts(I think he mentioned Gonzo as the Ghost of Christmas Future). But somewhere along the way, they decided to create original characters.
I believe it stands for Crossroads Television Service. It's basically a family friendly station with a lot of Christian based programming, but it also has many "family friendly" sitcoms from the 80's, like Full House, Happy Days, and now The Wonder Years(replacing The Muppet Show).
Well, I wouldn't call him a purely background character. He was featured in "The Cat Came Back" that Rowlf sang on the Muppet Show. Although I can't think of any other songs or sketches he was featured in.
Too many to list them all, but here are some:
Rainbow Connection
Bein' Green
I'm Going To Go Back There Someday
Hey A Movie!
Saying Goodbye
Happy Feet
The Rhyming Song
The Cat Came Back
C Is For Cookie
ABC-DEF-GHI (Big Bird)
Imagination
Rubber Duckie
What's The Name Of That Song...
I just remembered another one. I don't know when it aired, but CM brought a cookie to the Fix-It Shop for Maria to fix. It was broken in half and he wanted Maria to make it whole again(for some reason, he didn't want to eat a broken cookie). Maria tried to tell him that this was something she...
