Very nice! Great song and great parody lyrics.
I particularly liked the chorus- Sesame Street! 40 years of Sunny Days and still counting! And whenever I can, I'm still watching.:wisdom:
In keeping with the John Cougar Mellencamp theme, next you could write about little brown caves - Ain't...
Great poem, Puckrox. You captured very well the spirit of Jim Henson's creations and the messages of peace, love and understanding that he always seemed to try to imbue with his shows, particularly Fraggle Rock of course, but also Sesame Street and The Muppet Show.
But I must say- for a world...
I don't want to get too big into politics here, but I will say that I respect Jimmy Carter for what he tried to do as President. He was unabashed about his Christianity and I appreciate that and I think he tried to do the best he could as President. Unfortunately, he didn't accomplish too much...
I remember that Sesame Street NewsFlash quite well. Has it not been released on any VHS or DVD releases at all? It seems like I've seen that one fairly recently... but maybe I'm thinking of a 1980s episode of Sesame Street I've got taped from Noggin or Youtube or something...:wisdom:
Can I assume that Kermit doesn't appear in anything more than the classic NewsFlash segments? If even for a cameo, I would like to see him in the Street story. (Like what they did in "Big Bird's Story Time" - I really loved that video just for that one bit with Kermit coming by Big Bird's nest...
I just thought of another one- and another TV show theme song. The theme song to "My Two Dads" -
"You can count on me- no matter what you do, you can count on me.....":batty::)
There's also "God's Top Ten" by INXS
and "Eight Days A Week" by The Beatles
And of course, I'm sure The Count would love "Rock Around the Clock" and the "Happy Days" theme song for that matter (since he can count days of the week in that song- and hey, educate the kids on counting and days...
Oh yeah- been there, done that. A couple of times. I've got a little stockpile of microwaveable popcorn that's nice to pull out on a Friday night when I know I can stay up late and watch movies all evening. Haha- pizza, Mountain Dew and popcorn- I've spent a number of Friday evenings like that...
Sorry to be confusing- it was a confusing scene to me too somewhat. It started as one thing and led to another- I was trying for a reference in-joke to a band (though I only like the one song I mentioned and don't really listen to them otherwise...)
:o- A reference in-joke? I know a great one...
Thanks for the heads-up about the Kermit appearance.:) As others have said, I'm glad the clip is on Youtube so I can see it there because I'm really not interested in seeing the movie at all.
But although "ThunderCats" didn't really have a separate "very special message" at the end or anything, they most always had a positive moral value taught in every episode and that usually was addressed by the end of the episode.
Wilykit- So you mean if I had told the truth about accidentally...
Well, not every cartoon in the 1980s did those PSAs. But they sure did have them on a number of cartoons. And hey- at least they were trying to take some responsibility. I guess the toy companies were acknowledging that they were using the cartoons to sell tons of toys to the parents' kids, so...
Me: Gonzo's here! Cool!
Hey, Gonzo- done anything weird lately?
:concern:- You know, actually- I really haven't.
And THAT's weird for me!
Me: All right- a self-fulfilling prophecy!
:attitude:- What ISN'T weird for you?
Me: You got him there, Sam.
Just remember- different isn't always...
Cool site, SOTTH. I also appreciate the reference to most likely the most famous sermon ever- Jesus' Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7):)
I like the idea of your site- exploring the deeper philosophical, ideological, and perhaps even theological and spiritual issues addressed by pop culture-...
Hahaha- that is a neat story too. And yes, Goya's painting does sound rather disturbing. Way to go on making a funny Sesame Street painting instead to think on.:wisdom::insatiable:
Congratulations, man! That's awesome! I'm glad God has blessed you and your wife with children- they truly are a heritage from The Lord. (I hope one day to have a wife and have kids of my own. But I'm waiting on God's timing.)
May God bless you and your family richly.:)
Cool! As a fan of a number of Filmation's shows (mainly "Shazam", "Isis" and "Bravestarr"- and "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids" of course!)- that's really cool to know about. Thanks.:)
