The Nostalgia Critic Thread Lives Again!

I notice Channel Awesome is getting some bad press lately from people who apparently were fired by them. Not sure what's going on, but I see some of these people are complaining about Doug and his staff's unprofessionalism (which Doug himself admitted how unprofessional he is), but others have...

    Animation Conversation

Sid & Marty Krofft were just as guilty: how many times did they rehash the same old strangers in strange worlds premise they began using with Pufnstuf? Come to think of it, didn't Filmation also indulge in occasional rehashing their own premises as well?

The new What Made You Smile Today thread

Two days of sweater in May, which is a rare, almost unheard of thing! I think the last time we had such weather in May was, gosh, I don't know, maybe six years ago? Needless to say, it was a welcome change from weeks of 70s and 80s.

The “What did you do today?” thread

Am I the only one who doesn't regard dandelions as weeds? Went to a Brian Wilson concert tonight as he does he farewell tour of his Pet Sounds album. While Brian himself my not exactly be able to carry a tune quite like he used to, the rest of the Beach Boys still got it!

Sesame Street Season 47 Episode 4718 - Counting Hats

Math is a pretty boring subject in general.

Sesame Street Season 47 Episode 4718 - Counting Hats

Never seen this episode, but I've seen pics from it (like in the 40 years book); it was interesting, to say the least. The AM emcee looked a little like Leslie.

You Ever Notice...and What's the Deal...

So some grocery stores now have buggies that have wheels that will automatically lock up if you try to steal them from the store . . . now, as much as that sounds like a good idea to keep homeless bums and little old ladies from stealing them, how do the buggies even know they're being stolen...

    Daring to Dream

Last year I rear-ended my mom's car, and while I accept full responsibility, I do say that it's partly not my fault: I was backing up because somebody else was coming out of an entrance the wrong way, so I was giving them room to back up . . . and it was the one time I didn't look in the...

Now what's going on with YouTube?

Holy crap! After nine long months, YouTube has finally fixed our Watch Histories! Now videos you watch will actually appear in your Watch History again!

    Pet Peeves

On the subject of books, Ivanka Trump has apparently come out with her memoir, in which she describes how years of hard work and determination helped her succeed in life. This is the first time I've ever wanted to buy a book for the sake of burning it.

    HEH! Work It's been Canceled!

    Another objective opinion. ;)

    HEH! Work It's been Canceled!

Apparently JANE THE VIRGIN is still a thing. I honestly had no idea that show still on, in fact, I hadn't even heard or seen anything about it in a couple of years or so (and weren't they trying to do a black version of the show at some point?) But what's the deal with SUPERGIRL? Is it canceled...

    Pet Peeves

I know a lot of people - including Caroll Spinney - have said the same about radio back in the days when TV was first coming into vogue, in that when listen to a story on the radio, your imagination creates the visuals in your head for you, as opposed to seeing incredibly fake looking mock-ups...

Big Bird and Caroll Spinney on What's My Line? (1972)

Caroll almost looked like Jim when he first walked out! XD I agree, they ran out of time way too quickly, I would have liked to hear their further questions. "It's not Smokey the Bear is it?"

    Pet Peeves

I'm kind of the same way, TBH. I find that the books I tend to read the most are biographies about people I admire: I finished Tom Bergeron's autobiography in like a week, and the Jim Henson biography Brian Jay Jones wrote in like a month and a half.

    Pet Peeves

Society, in general, has a very anti-book mentality anymore. Heck, I remember Kayne Pest hates books so much that when he wrote his autobiography and had it published, it was only 52 pages long - an egomaniac like him, you'd think his autobiography would be a never-ending story. :P

    TV Tropes

I dunno. Anytime they shift their gears like this and you call it to their attention, they're always like, "No, you're wrong, this was always part of our rules and always will be."

    TV Tropes

Really, the first sign that things were beginning to go south at TV Tropes was when the staff suddenly began getting strict on not allowing sarcasm or cynicism on the wiki, which, uhh, is kind of what lured me to TV Tropes in the first place, because the whole wiki was just dripping with sarcasm...
