I really love how thanks to HBO's funding, Sesame is able to make song parodies using the actual music. I have to say the autotune sounds so cool, particularly on Peter Linz as Ernie.
The cold open with Grover trying to strike a pose while holding a tree was funny. Seeing Elmo do a pose in EW was a nice full body shot. Seeing Mr. Noodle pretend to be a model is something I'd never thought I'd see on EW. Telly knocking Abby over and thinking she did it herself was funny.
Come on, Jen's Zoe is more tolerable than Penelope's voice (I think it was intended to be annoying). Anyway, the street story was very good, and Grover did steal the show. I like how Mr. Noodle painted an impressive picture of him and Elmo in the new EW.
They need to look at current Muppet projects like Jarrod, just accept that it's not as great as the old stuff but, accept what you're getting. But my point is, Steve Whitmire might feel terrible if he heard them saying those things after they met him 3 years prior.
I really do appreciate all the work JD Hansel and Steve Swanson do as Muppet podcasters, but I can't believe even though they met Steve Whitmire and claimed he was one of the nicest people ever, they changed their mind just because they believe the stories of why he was fired, as evidenced in...
The street story was fun. I think I'm starting to get the hang of what voices John Kennedy can do. The song in the middle of the street story was catchy.
JD Hansel: It's a shame that Caroll's wrapping up convention appearances. I don't know how his health is, we haven't heard much about that, for obvious reasons, it's not our business. But I'm glad he's not shutting himself off in the last few years in his life and he's getting out there and...
Really the only new thing was the end with Telly and a Muppet triangle. I liked how Telly was flattered by the triangle saying his favorite shape is a Telly shape.
Ryan Dillon: I worked with the (Elmo) puppet before, so that wasn't nerve-racking for me. Cause sometimes Kevin would throw me the puppet if he was directing, he'd be like "I'll do the voice, you do the puppet."
Joe Hennes: Well, that's the history of Elmo, people throwing the puppet from...
The cold open with Grover and ending with Telly were fun. I kinda wish they had Telly blow real bubbles like the street story though. It was interesting how there were bubbles in the happy dance part of EW.
Here's the finale of the show. I love seeing all those Sesame guys with those LA puppeteers: Drew Massey, Bill Barretta and Colleen Smith. Also Jen and Zoe saying "We love you, Caroll" is adorable.
Joe Hennes: You told me there was something you weren't quite getting about Elmo's voice. It was close, but you weren't quite getting there, and then you remembered Kevin is from Baltimore.
Ryan Dillon: Oh, yeah! Yes, Kevin's from Baltimore, and he has a very specific accent. But Kevin would...
We know from interviews that David is from Chicago, and in one of the DillonGale live chats, Caren imitates Frankie and says he used to live in Chicago.
