Funny you should ask, as LFI was apparently not well regarded according to ex-employees. The source of the problem seemed to be when Lisa Frank's then-husband James Green became CEO. Break out the popcorn, everyone, because this is going to be one fascinating read. :)...
Lisa Frank's corporate headquarters is in my city. You know, the source of those saccharine, blindingly colorful school supplies that every girl had to have back in the '90s? It's still around, and it happens to be in my town. :p...
Rowdy also looked at the Dungeons & Dragons series and brought up the "complainer is always wrong" trope that was endemic in '80s cartoons with the spoiled Eric, the one on the team with the most common sense who got crapped on by the universe because of it. Rowdy mentioned how writer Mark...
It is understandable why "Punky Purists" don't really like the sitcom's animated counterpart, It's Punky Brewster. It follows a lot of standard '80s cartoon tropes such as Punky having a magical comic relief sidekick, along with his powers ripping pages out of the Big Book of Stock Plots (TM)...
I really enjoyed the episode of Greg where they try to revamp the show-within-a-show into something "hip" and "edgy" to try to bring up sagging ratings, only to give the kids in the focus group seizures due to all the flashing lights.
I enjoyed the Esurance commercial with Walter White. Makes me kinda miss Breaking Bad, but also get me hyped for Better Call Saul. That Super Bowl Rally commercial was also fun, if only for the clips for The Lego Movie and MLP they used. :)
I also give massive props for Go Daddy for not showing...
That SpongeBob reference with a non-copyright-infringing green cyclops Squidward in the latest episode was brilliant. But it's not surprising as one of the writers, Casey Alexander, also writes for that show, though he contributed to some of the most disliked episodes by fans. I'd say he's...
Well, Mr. Enter's channel was finally re-instated. The reason it was suspended was because Viacom cried foul on a SpongeBob video that was at least a year old, which Enter disputed, but they did nothing about this dispute for a month. Here's the full story (language warning).
Boy, has Strange Magic flopped, debuting at the box office at 7th place with only a puny $5.5 mil. gross. Not even The Nut Job opened that poorly in the same month!
Meanwhile, its only competition, Paddington, continues to hold a steady 2nd place spot in its 2nd week with a $40 mil. gross in...
And most of the off-brand films flop hard nowadays, which I'm thankful for.
Disney's really not done with traditional animation in theaters, per se; they just don't have anything major at the moment and seem to be using it only for shorts. The Mickey Mouse short attached to Frozen was a 2D/3D...
The latest episode was a nice little focus on the robot henchmen as they attempt to solve the whereabouts of their missing boss. The little flashback with Sonic and Knuckles taking Eggman on was hilarious, too.
And in game-related news, the Wii U version of Sonic Boom recently received a huge...
Dan Mintz (the writer) could have made it just 22 minutes of essentially saying "MLP sucks and its entire fanbase is nothing but a bunch of autistic pedophiles", but it's restricted to playful jabs at the franchise ("Oh my God, why am I analyzing this show!?"). I applauded at how even-handed...
I know I've ragged on the show in the past, but once the 2nd season put less of a focus on cutaway gags and more of a focus on the team-ups, it's grown on me.
I'd say the relationship is more like Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable, where she saves him more often than the other way around.
