Just my signature is running. ;) He he.
I had this Bible teacher once, many years ago in high school that came down pretty hard on the Muppets. He said that the Muppets praised human frailties - Fozzie Bear signified society's laughing at drunk people, Miss Piggy demonstrated rage and...
I know it's a long shot, but I hope Langridge reads the forums and thinks about revising his designs.
He should honor the spark the Muppets already have before making his own mark on the characters. I understand an artist's personal style and don't think he should copy Frith, but I...
The Princess and the Frog
This appears to be just a teaser, but I like what I see here. It sets the world up a little bit without telling too much. That will come later - a lot of marketing. :)
The lightening bug looks kin to Pepe!
I wish they'd kept the Frog Prince or Frog...
He could make me laugh and he didn't go for the cheap and easy jokes many comedians today get away with. The man was funny. He even held his own in the Charlie's Angels sequel. He was probably the best thing about that otherwise stale picture. Bill Murray is a tough act to follow. The true test...
There's a lot wrong with Jar Jar. He's almost the Clifford of Episode One. :o
I have no problem with CG easing little bits in a Muppet scene (like the Kermit flip in MTI) but not as a rule. Man, George Lucas just kept throwing more CG at the screen until now replacing everything with computer...
SPOILER (for anyone who hasn't seen Robinsons):
I found the film refreshing that the protagonist decides not to see his birth mother after creating a time machine and the fact that she passes right in front of him. It's standard exploitive television and film fare for the subject to be about...
I really was referring to DrTooth's comment about some adoption people being upset at the film. It had no bearing on your perspective. I guess you misread that part or erroneously think my last couple of posts were to you. Sorry about that misunderstanding.
However, you must not have gotten...
If not for my love of movies (and the original songs by Danny Elfman and my partner's favorite Rufus Wainwright) Robinsons would likely have passed me by too. Some of the advertising made it look like a wannabe Pixar kiddie fluff piece, but I was pleasantly surprised to see there was more to the...
I would prefer more of a Frith look to the comic book art. After all, much of the Muppet look is from his conceptual art. I don't see why so many artists don't respect the origins of what came before their work - especially when carrying on a specific tradition. If this dude wanted to draw...
You're right. The wiki pitch art looks a little fan-like, but still better than the truly El Sleazo version of Fozzie from that comic. I do like their Zoot. It makes me smile for some reason.
YouTube has a clip of an animated Muppet episode with Fozzie, Piggy and Kermit and a clip that...
I didn't even notice that. It perfectly demonstrates the artist's lack of regard for the source material in researching such a basic phrase. He might as well have Miss Piggy say "yo" or "ich" instead of "moi".
I'm still wondering about what the appeal of this style is to classic or new fans? I get the look of these Mayhem, Muppet and Piggy passed-on animated pitches from the Wiki because they still retain some natural Muppetisms (well the Kermit one's a little wonky, but it's still just conceptual art...
Exactly. It took being featured in Wall-E for interest to be stirred. Few kids would have considered Hello Dolly before that prime placement. I think it's importaint for new things to nod at older more classic sources. I wish the tween crowd's tastes were more to my liking, but if it takes...
I love that old Baby Kermit photo. I remember scanning that photo in, extracting it from the background and creating the remainder of the rocking horse that had been cropped for use on the Muppet Central site. I never knew it was making the rounds, but I am very glad to see it again! Gave me a...
I agree. The story elements in Robinsons are scattered. It does have spectacular animation (a rung under Pixar, but better than other studios), Danny Elfman composition, a heartwarming message and relatable characters. The “bad-smelling” accusation from Snowth was a bit much. I can understand it...
As someone who watched the Muppet Show in its first run in syndication I'd say - yeah, put it on the air to introduce the show to a new generation. However, most of the guest stars and music on the program aren't relatable to the very catered-toward tween audience. The mountain won't come to...
