Well, if Guy Smiley was played in 2001 by Steve Whitmire, why wasn't he used as the game show host for the episode with the Sesame Street Squares Game?
I miss it when Sesame Street used to come on at 5:00 pm on my station. Now it's only on at 6:00 am and 9:00 and 10:00 am on my station. I hope someday WGBH will place Sesame Street on a new time slot(specifically late afternoon).
Actually, they have recast Guy Smiley. In 2001, he appeared in the main street story of a season 32 episode in which Maria has many emergency toaster repairs. Guy was put as one of Maria's patrons as opposed to a game show host, and Dantecat says Guy was played by Steve Whitmire in that episode.
In the 70s and 80s, Fisher-Price used to make Sesame Street record players. But how come today, with CDs as state-of-the-art, they don't make Sesame Street CD players?
Well, with only 26 episodes, numbers could only be used once or twice. Also, the show doesn't use as many clips as it used to, and in season 35, many new guest star and parody clips debuted such as Dr. Feel, Larry King, Norah Jones Don't Know "Y", Far From Seven, and TriangleBob TrianglePants...

Telly was in that position before in a segment of a season 34 episode entitled, "Monster on the Spot/Play of the Day." I would love to see Kermit again, but Sesame Workshop no longer owns the rights to him, so they might as well do some Telly monster, "Monster on the Spot" stuff.
Just imagine if Disney bought the rights to Sesame Street! But if Disney owned the rights to Sesame Street, would Sesame Street still air on PBS? And would Disney give Sesame Street more than 26 episodes?
Save money to produce new series? But they've discontinued the production of episodes of Dragon Tales and Sagwa! Why isn't Sesame Street top priority anymore?
