I remember watching a little bit of 3-2-1 Contact when I was a little kid, but apart from the theme song, my memories are a tad hazy. I have stronger memories of other kids' science shows on PBS: Bill Nye the Science Guy and the Magic School Bus.
And yet, the green-jacketed gofer is awfully popular with those of us who have two X chromosomes.
Cases in point:
1. The RHLC. 'Nuff said.
2. The episode of the Muppet Show in which Lynda Carter was a guest. During the musical number 'Orange Colored Sky,' after Scooter comes crashing onto the...
Relax, Sara, I've got room for the whole forum in the bomb shelter. And it's VERY secure. I just need to finish up the rec room and the professional-grade three-oven kitchen.
I'll ask special agents Leland, Closter and the others if we can have use of the space underneath Jim's Coffee...
Nora: (very audibly hangs up the phone) All right, my little brother will have his chem set back in time for the 31st.
Storyteller: I've started work on the Terrible Tunnel.
MN: The kitchen's almost done, and we need to work on the bathroom, my room and the sitting room.
Nora: What are we...
I think I know which one you're talking about; there's one photo taken in front of the Muppet wall in Studio D; in it, Richard's wearing a long-sleeved dark red shirt. It's one of the photos on the Muppet Wiki page dedicated to Richard.
Speaking of photos...guys, this is a dumb question but I'd...
At Chez News, occupants have started decorating.
MN: (hauling timbrel cart) 'Tis a far far better thing I have done...
Nora: (on phone with kid sister) What do you mean, Stu won't let me borrow his Junior Jekyll chemistry set?
Storyteller: (decorating her hut to look like the Terrible Tunnel)...
I was about 7 when I first heard of Richard. I was watching the TMTM credits, because I was curious about who played Scooter, and in the credits, Scooter's name popped up under the name "Richard Hunt."
I saw him for the first time in TGMC (but didn't realize that was him until years later)...
Well, depends on whether or not Scooter and J.P. Grosse are actually related by blood. J.P. could have married someone in Scooter's family (though why any woman would want to marry a man like J.P. is beyond me), or maybe J.P. was a stepbrother to one of Scooter's parents, or something.
Might have been in the scene at the studios, when they're getting the set built. It's either a sign that says 'The Movie' or the black and white clapper board: 'The Muppet Movie, Scene 1, Take 1.'
And yeah, a few times we've asked if Scooter might be part Fraggle. The first-part-of-season-1...
Thought I'd bump the thread up a bit.
You know, it's bizarre: I think I had Richard show up in a dream during the night, but I honestly can't remember what happened!
Storyteller is in the kitchen, preparing tonight's dinner: rockweed bisque.
Storyteller: And one cup cream, two teaspoons Doozer stick powder, one pinch of ground Nirvana tree bark for extra spice...
MN: (enters kitchen) Hey, Storyteller, do we have any more turpentine?
Storyteller: Yeah, it's...
MN, Storyteller and Nora are planning the decorations for Halloween.
Nora: So what are we doing?
MN: Well, in all of the rooms except the breakfast nook, we're doing a literary house of horrors.
Storyteller: Okay...for Tale of Two Cities, we'll put the guillotine and the timbrel carts in the...
Well, I have a couple of striped rugby shirts, a pair of blue-striped Adidas and a nice-looking tweed newsboy's cap... ('course, R's was gray and mine's more brownish-tan...)
Nora: Where have you been?
MN: After work I went out to dinner and to the theater with my family.
Storyteller: How...
Nora: Oh, I'm so sore. I was out on the dance floor doing the Robot all night.
Storyteller: Yeah, and I think I ate too many cookies.*
MN: Ah, the after-party hangover. Have to run, you two, I have to work today.
Nora: Later.
Storyteller: Toodles.
MN departs for the day.
* Cookies: those...
Hey, we just saw Foreigner not too long ago. They were touring the U.S. with Styx. Good show.
Interesting dream last night. I dreamed that I was up in my dorm room, daydreaming about writing a fan letter to Richard...and I think I had an actual mailing address to write to.
This was all...
Nora: They're still putting him together. What'd we get him?
MN: We have...one new CPU, a couple of external hard drives...and one copy of Issac Asimov's I, Robot.
Storyteller: The book, not the movie.
Oh, Lord, can you imagine the Muppeteers doing Whose Line? I think they'd all be right at home with that.
The Muppeteers' quotes are always fun to read. For my signature, I originally wanted Richard's line about acting crazy, which is what everyone wants to do, "except we get paid for it,"...
Happy birthday, Phil! Visiting this site is always lots of fun, and a blast.
Crazy Harry: Did someone say blast?
Hit the dirt! (explosion rocks the forum)
Nora: Okay, Robot Kermit's birthday is today...break out the robot jokes.
Storyteller: So what DO you give a robot on his birthday?
MN: I was thinking a new set of IBM cards or something.
Nora: Here's a joke: What is a robot's favorite snack?
Storyteller: Oooh, oooh I know this one!
Nora...
