Nora: Okay, Erin?
Erin: Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just feeling some heat exhaustion...and plus, it's been a hectic day all around.
Nora: Another one of those...
Storyteller: Ah, well...kick back with a book or something, and have some mint tea.
Erin: Exactly what I was thinking.
That's true - the newcomers are giving it their best shot, and we're seeing new talent enter the troupe. And let's face it, once a puppeteer has departed for heaven, it's awfully hard for him/her to continue doing voices.
And about putting Scooter on the table with his performer's ashes - it...
Just moved in for the start of the semester. As it stands at the moment, I don't have a roommate, so I have the room all to myself. And let's face it, it has some very substantial perks and a few downsides. On the up side, I'm not tripping over other people's stuff, and I'm not going to be kept...
I think the Wikiscanner is an excellent idea. It'll make twisting the facts a little more difficult, I hope.
All the same, I visit Wikipedia only for fun; I don't use it for serious research. In fact, at school most of the professors prohibit our using Wikipedia, since it's sometimes kind of...
I'm departing tomorrow for my senior year of college, so I'm expecting the usual volley of academic rigors, plus prep for graduation and then job hunting or grad school (at this stage, probably job hunting).
And I still don't know if I'm going to have a roommate this year. Details to follow...
Yeah - and every time viewers see that character, they're going to compare the new puppeteer against the original one. And it's always a little poignant if that character's original performer is now dearly departed.
And the subject makes me think of what Amanda told us about Richard's...
Well, if you wanna be technical, it's actually not a James Taylor song, it's a Carole King song, from "Tapestry." But both King and Taylor won Grammys for their respective performances of said tune.
And unfortunately I missed it...oh, well.
Nora: What did he mean by "you've got a..."
Erin...
Nora: (hearing commotion) W-w-what's going on?
Storyteller: Well, nature abhors a vacuum...but Gonzo seems to like them.
Erin: Mmm...(thumbing through book) Hey, I've got a joke: Did you know that Marcel Proust wrote a cookbook, in addition to his other books?
Storyteller: Really? What was it...
Oh, man, if they were doing the Muppet Show today, and they did the Mickey Moose sketches, Disney's lawyers would have flown straight over to England and served them all with lawsuits.
Jim: Oh, I'll pass - lawsuits give me indigestion.
Richard: Me too. (shoving lawsuit back at lawyer) Here...
Nora: Wow, sounds like Cookie Monster's on the prowl tonight; better lock up the cookie jar.
Erin: I would - if we had a cookie jar, which we really don't.
Storyteller: What? But every organized person needs a cookie jar in the kitchen.
Nora: Storyteller. Remember who we're talking about.
Erin...
We've got our set; I arranged to pick it up when I went to pay my tuition. We're going through it a couple of episodes at a time - they're really getting into it now. And oh, yes, the way Richard was cackling back there, you'd think he was laying an egg.
I was just watching the Petula Clark...
Hmm, well, I know a little bit about windmills, having had to read "Don Quixote" for a college English class two years ago, but probably nowhere near as much as D'Snowth here does.
For some time, I had "Ascent," a rising moon over a mountain, as my desktop image, but then I started using...
I know - the graphics from the 80s have a certain charm about them, I think.
That's true - but for me, it was his demeanor. I mean, as Junior blithely cavorts around the Gorgs' garden, there's Richard sitting at the puppeteers' table, all at attention with microphone on and waldo up. He's...
I have a "class photo" of Jerry, Jim, Frank, Dave, Louise and Richard posing in front of the red Muppet Show curtain with some of their characters. It gives me something cheerful and funny to look at when I'm working.
Storyteller: (writing a letter to Beige Fraggle) "...life continues apace here, in ways that would make your Cave's Oldest Fraggle keel over from shock on the spot..." (pauses, looks up) You're looking tense, Erin.
Erin: (looking through cabinets for teapot and kettle) Yeah, I've got a wicked...
I wouldn't think he'd be amused...a puppeteer in a sling is a puppeteer out of action. Unless he/she could puppeteer one-handed.
And when I saw the demo of the Gorgs on "Down at Fraggle Rock," I thought Richard looked a tad, well, dignified to be playing big, goofy Junior Gorg. (like I said...
(night before, back in room 7)
(Nora and Storyteller have since turned in; Erin is up having her usual mug of chamomile tea)
(voice at window): Can't sleep, Erin?
Erin: What? (turns) Oh, hi, Richard. (laughs softly) I'm wired - and chamomile's the only thing that'll get me to sleep most of...
Storyteller: Oh, I have at least four lunches a day, five if I need an extra burst of energy for a ten-part epic.
Nora: Beets? Nature's candy? (winces a bit) Never really liked beets, actually.
Erin: But they do stain the dishes a nice magenta color, you have to admit.
clock starts to...
