(Erin is brewing a large pot of chamomile tea in the kitchen, for she plans to actually get a decent night's set of Zs tonight.)
Erin: Try as you might, Sam, but if Gonzo or any of the others are going to be weirdoes, there's nothing you can do to stop them. Or us.
Storyteller: Brewing your...
Erin: (at computer, typing) "Even though...the council has made amends...most feel that it needs to do much more...to regain the public's trust..." (pauses, yawns)
Scooter: (curled up on sofa, reading) Still working on the article?
Erin: Unfortunately, and I'm a few paragraphs short of having...
(In the kitchen, Erin is brewing a pot of tea and making herself some toast, Nora's eating a bowl of cereal, Beige is having some fruit and Scooter is slowly nibbling on a slice of bread with butter and jam.)
Storyteller: Good morning, room 7.
All: (various states of grogginess) Morning...
Erin: Read the fine print, Eleanor Jane.
Nora: (takes story) Uh-huh...oh. (smiles slightly)
Scooter: "For Richard or Poorer..." wonder if Richard's going to drop in at some moment in the story? (looks up) Sounds like Kathy's having trouble sleeping.
Erin: (looks up) Kathy, you might want to try...
(Erin is reading a copy of "For Richard or Poorer," and trying to keep from laughing)
Erin: (snicker) I love this, I love this.
Nora: Hey, what's that?
Erin: A little tidbit from Ed and the Count. I think you'll find it interesting.(shows it to her)
Nora: Uh-huh...uh-huh...wait a minute, I...
Oooh-hoo, Nora's got a bad case of busy hands, doesn't she? ;)
Wonder what this means for the forthcoming nuptials...keep it coming, Ed! It's off to a good start.
(in room 7, Scooter is slowly eating a bowl of radish stew on the sofa - the others are at the table having bowls of the same stew, with fresh bread to go with it)
Storyteller: I'll have to give Boober my recipe for rockweed bisque, with rosemary and tarragon, and...
(knock at the door)
Erin...
(knocking at door)
Beige: Oh, wonder if Mokey forgot something - (opens door) Oh, hi, Boober...what's the story with the surgical mask around your neck?
Scooter: (walks over, with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders) I don't have Pebble Pox, Boober, so don't worry. (to others) Hey, Kim...hi...
Yeah, and traveling Matt spreads his arms out that way, too. "Behold! Traveling Matt has come home!"
The big teams seemed to be Jim and Frank, Jerry and Richard, Dave and Steve, and Kathy and Karen. But we've seen plenty of other on-screen teams, like Jerry and Steve, or Richard and Kathy...
Scooter: (curled up on sofa, listening to card, and quietly singing along) "If just one person...believes in you...deep enough, and strong enough...believes in you..."
(knock at the door)
Storyteller: (in hut) Beige, you want to get that?
Beige: (still a little tired) Sure, sure...(opens door...
Erin: Whoa, let me grab that, Grover. (grabs cake) Guys, this is really sweet of you, thank you.
Storyteller: Oooh, and these cards look really nice...(takes them) Thank you, everyone, and we'll see that Scooter gets these. (to Erin) And what's his status report today?
Erin: Well, his throat's a...
Erin: That meeping...it can only be one Muppet. (opens the door) Hi, Beaker! (turns) Richard, come here, it's your other alter ego!
(Richard swoops in and gives Beaker a hug)
Nora: (warily) Hey, Bunsen, you're not here to examine Scooter, are you?
Beige: Doesn't look like it.
Scooter: Hi...
I know - they're all bunched up against each other, with their hands and their chins on each other's shoulders. Must have been during a goofing-off moment (one of at least a million) in the performer's lounge.
And hey, wait a moment - maybe that's the side of Richard that Beaker comes from...
No, I've been fairly lucky so far. We're all Muppet fans one way or another in my house. (but I'm the only one who likes Fraggle Rock) And when I went to pick up season 2 of TMS, the clerk at the checkout desk and I got into a brief but animated discussion of all things Muppet.
Yeah, he looks absolutely petrified. Think of it as Munch's "The Scream," revisited. (But I'll bet he was just doing that for the benefit of the camera, that he really didn't mind Karen's foot on his shoulder.)
Well, yes, that would have looked a little unusual - a group of adults lying on...
Richard: (in an affectionate tone) And hello yourself, you little red hairball. (to Sweetums) You still hanging around with Robin?
Nora: Erin! How do you work this samovar?
Erin: Hold the phone. (goes to kitchen) All right, this knob turns it on, this one adjusts the heat, this one is preset to...
Storyteller: (opening door) Oh, hi, everyone! (turns) Guys, it's Alex and Sweetums, and Bean and Elmo, too.
Scooter: Wait - Bean is here?
Nora: Scooter, maybe you should just let it slide for now. I mean, you're sick, and he wants to cheer you up.
Erin: Agreed - and even though we're risking...
Erin: Wow, Ed...this is really kind of you. Thanks!
Nora: You know, maybe we ought to put him on the sofa in the common room. That way he'd be around us more.
Erin: Just what I was thinking. (goes into Scooter's room) Come on, Scooter, let's get you out onto the sofa.
(a short time later...
