(in room 7, there is a vase of bright red peonies on the table)
Erin: He's still with us, Scooter. You know that.
Beige: Which could either be a cause for celebration or alarm, depending on the circumstances.
Scooter: I know. (suddenly chokes back a laugh)
Nora: What's so funny?
Scooter: I...
Hi, everyone; the lidocaine's finally worn off...but ouch, my jaws ache from holding them open for so long.
Ah, Richard...has it really been 16 years since you left us?
But, as the man himself said at Jim's memorial, "There is solace, and there is joy, to know that Jim has returned home for...
You know, I did see that article while I was scanning the web sometime back. It's very haunting; I mean, the numbers alone will tell you that AIDS has cut quite a swath through people's lives...but to look at the names, and the lives, of those who were affected - that shows you just how great...
(Scooter is sitting at the kitchen table, quietly sipping some hot chocolate.)
Beige: Hi, Scooter, is there any of that left on the stove?
Scooter: There is. Help yourself.
Beige: Thanks. (gets chocolate, sits down) Where is everyone?
Scooter: They're all out of the room for the moment. Nora's...
(scanning MBM) Well, she looks like Marianne, and she talks like Marianne, so she must be. Nice to see you again!
Well, whatever Steve has to say on Richard, and whenever he says it, it's going to be worth listening to.
Hard to believe that it will have been 16 years...:sympathy:
All right, everyone, here is chapter nine.
The suspense level gets raised several points, as Scooter overhears a very suspicious-sounding phone call while the Muppet Express is stopped at the town of Waterborne...

Chapter Nine: Dial T for Trouble
On a scribbled-on-page in the...
Erin: Very true, Bryan. And yet it all comes together somehow or other.
Storyteller: I see you've got the Fraggle Five in the dining car...very good.
Nora: Looks as if I'm the keeper of the train schedule or something.
Erin: Well, someone's got to be.
Beige: Now, is it just me, or did Fozzie...
And we're back!
Well, eggs won't be the only things cracking up in the dining car on the Muppet Express, as we turn the narrative over to Fozzie...(looks up at balcony, sees Statler and Waldorf trying to climb out via a sheet rope) Get back here, you two, you're actually in the story's text...
Took your advice and threw da rat in, Ed - thanks!
Okay, everyone, sorry for the delay, but chapter eight of Albatross will be up sometime this afternoon.
Well, let's face it, we've posted so many things, it's hard to keep track of them all, you know?
On to other matters...well, in two days, we'll be observing the day Richard shrugged off these mortal coils and flew home. And my observance of the day will include a morning in the dentist chair...
Erin: Oh...I feel the fanfic-writer prodding stick jabbing into my ribs...
Storyteller: (holding said stick) You said it. Where's chapter eight?
Erin: Writer's block, storyteller, writer's block.
Nora: What's the plot of that one?
Erin: You guys are sitting at a table in the dining car, reading...
"Hey, Waldorf, I'm going to go get something from the lounge car. You want anything?"
"Ask them if they serve halfway entertaining stories."
"Hmmm...that'd be asking the impossible."
I'll pretend I didn't hear that, guys. And now, off to the Muppet Express' well-stocked buffet-lounge car for a...
Yes, Richard arrived at the station and checked in well before departure time, so pigs must be flying.
Miss Piggy: Ahem...
Then again, pigs might be flying - in a later chapter, that is. And we'll see more of the Muppet performers later on. In the meantime, have a look at this one.

Hi, Sara, nice to see you back!
By all means, go ahead! I've just started another fanfic myself.
Glad to hear it's working out with you and Robert...but sorry to hear about the job-related stuff. Hope it works out.
Nigel's the one from the Muppet Show. And he might not be really platypus-looking, but it's the species some people have assigned him.
Oh, and the guy in the gray overcoat isn't a cameo. We'll learn more about him later on.
As for the Muppet Express's color scheme...well, it's...
All right, here is the much-touted chapter six. The next few chapters won't be ready to post for a bit, but in the meantime, try to spot all the cameos in this scene.
"I think they're gonna be sad, I think it's today...the bird that's driving them mad, it just flew away..."
Had to throw that...
Thanks, Kate - of course, I'm going to break the pattern a bit in the next chapter by handing the narrative back to Nora - and I know that Scooter and Skeeter will each get another chapter.
I got the idea of multiple narrators from the book "Castle Rouge," by Carole Nelson Douglas. The main...
Nora: How's it coming?
Erin: Well, chapter five's up...and for chapter six, I'm turning the narration back over to you.
Scooter: So where's it going next?
Erin: The train station.
Beige: Where do the Fraggles come in?
Erin: They'll be on the train...in car 10. And Doc and Sprocket will be there...
Thanks for being patient, guys. And now, chapter five, with a cameo by the characters from the Land of Gorch. We now turn the narration over to Camilla...and I couldn't stop laughing over this one.
Statler: First an albatross, then an eagle, now a chicken. This story's really for the birds...
