Welcome back, heralde! Glad to hear you got a little much-needed R and R.
Garden sounds very interesting, because of the peonies, of course, but also because of the arrangement. Was it in a botanical garden somewhere?
Beige: (coming back from lobby) You can never find a bus when you need one. (sees others clanking around in kitchen) And what's this?
Nora: Well, it's summer now, you see...
Scooter: Yeah, the ice cream maker's coming out of storage.
Erin: (checking controls on maker) So what should we do for...
The thing is, Mom's going to crack up every time she hears a reference to that song...but then again, that's what our pal Richie woulda wanted. I also mentioned Boober's line, "Argument, nothing, it's an attempted coup!" She liked that one too; she commented that the writers threw that in for...
Had a Fraggle Rock moment this weekend: we were heading back from Mass this morning, and my mom (who was the organist this weekend) was saying that no one would fall asleep on her watch (meaning that her music wouldn't put people to sleep). And I chimed in with, "Hey, pick up the tempo, will ya...
I was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and on our move back to the lower 48, we spent a week driving through the Yukon and British Columbia. I like to remark that had I been born 50 or so miles east, I could have qualified for dual citizenship.
I've not heard many Canadians use the "eh;" for me...
Storyteller: Long week, everyone?
Erin: Too long; I've spent way too much time in front of a computer this week. (rubs back)
Nora: That's nothing; I've had two crates of romance novels fall on my head.
Scooter: (reclining on sofa with ice pack on ankle) Fell off my skateboard on the way back...
Hi, everyone - I've been a little AWOL lately, due to the assorted stresses of that which we call life. And have fun en vacances, heralde - fill us in once you get back.
Let's see...favorite RH character is Scooter. As for favorite song/memory...hmm, I'm going to have to think about those two...
Me too - a few nights after we lost Marta, I dreamed that she and Toby were trying to filch food off of the kitchen table. And it was rather comforting. It also really helps to make a memorial of sorts; we've marked Marta's grave with two trees (a dogwood and a Japanese maple), a rhododendron...
Oh, no...I know what it means to lose a dog, Sara, and it looks as if many of us around here do. It's one of the worst things in the world, 'cause let's face it, animals don't judge us the way people do.
You and your family have my sympathies, and rest assured that Bridgette's in dog heaven...
Nora: I had to go in today and help Mrs. Farley; there was a new shipment of Romantic-era French poetry and no one else wanted to help stack it.
Erin: Ah, Lamartine...as for me, I was stuck covering a high school graduation this morning...after I got stuck in traffic on the way there.
Scooter: I...
All went well...sure, there was the usual mob of crazies honking air horns and bellowing at the top of their lungs, not to mention the traffic to and from where they were holding this thing...but I got the story filed this afternoon with minimal angst.
Same here - I feel a little guilty if I can't stop in and chat.
But lately I've been AWOL, what with the internship, and the anxiety over the ongoing job hunt...and tomorrow I'm covering a high school graduation. Then again, so are half the other reporters on the staff. It's the big weekend...
I think he wanted to take revenge on Dave for the "sugar incident..." and wait, yes, he wrote it down in his day planner - along with a note to palm Elmo off on someone else as soon as possible. That's the way I pictured it.
Nora: (receiving plate of gingerbread men) Mmm, thanks, guys!
Beige: (eyeing plate of brownies) Can't...resist...
Storyteller: Yes you can. How's the patient?
Erin: Breathing returning to normal. (hands Scooter a glass of water)
Scooter: Thanks...I'm amazed the Screaming Thing...did that song in...
Hmm, a nightmare about a little red menace with a smiley face...I remember that a while back, I made a joke about Richard having a nightmare in which he was confronted and terrorized by a 50-foot Elmo. (I wonder if he actually had that happen to him?)
That said...once again, hang in...
(Scooter is sitting in common room, looking a tad anxious; others are off doing something else.)
Scooter: Wow...let's face it, everyone's been having a crazy time of it. Erin's dealing with that paper job, Nora has to deal with salamanders running amuck in the bookshop, Storyteller's got five...
Erin: (consulting checklist) Let's see. One jar of radish stew.
Storyteller: Check.
Erin: One box of lavender-mint tea bags.
Nora: Check.
Erin: One plate of brownies topped with caramel sauce and Snickers bats.
Beige: (drool, drool)
Storyteller: Beige!
Beige: (startled) Huh? What? (shakes head)...
