That could totally be a movie or show in the future. Or maybe they'll re-release the show on DVD with the Disney logo. I remember some people got ticked off when they added it to the first two Muppet movies when those came to DVD.

Mostly i've skipped around, I just started watching from the beginning very recently, although I did watch the first two a while back. The show really does seem to get better and better with each season. As for the cutaways, they're pretty hit or miss for me.
