I almost wish Disney would give up ownership of The Muppets. That way, we'd get more content, maybe even a theatrical release. If a smaller company were to own them, they would be a large priority. In Disney, Muppets are just a tiny spec compared to other stuff they have like Marvel and Star Wars.
That is one thing I miss from the original Muppet film trilogy. Maybe one day Disney will give up ownership and we'll get to see Sesame and Muppet characters mingle again.
WordWorld and The Zula Patrol were some of my favorites a kid (though I usually caught Zula on Qubo). And I also watched the 2009 Electric Company, which is technically the "new" version even though it came out 14 years ago.
Used to also love shows like "Between the Lions", "Zoboomafoo"...
Yes, I would have loved to see John Ritter guest star in an episode. It seems they tried to correct their error by having him appear in The Fantastic Miss Piggy Show, but it was just not the same. Suzanne Somers, Richard Kline, or Joyce DeWitt would have fit in perfectly as well.

Since we're on the subject of Hunt, I noticed that his voice got a lot deeper in the mid '80s. Especially in the Muppets Take Manhattan, Scooter and Janice have significantly deeper voices than they did just 3 years ago in Muppet Caper. I wonder why that was.
The hate for Muppets From Space is something I will never understand. Of all the muppet films made in the last 35 years, it captures the energy of the characters, franchise, and humor best. I will always stand by it.
I know that Jim Henson was still credited as a performer on Sesame Street until 2001. Not sure how long Hunt or Nelson were. I think one of Jerry Nelson's last performance as the Count (8 is great song) still airs every so often.
This might be the Mandela effect, but I could have sworn I read somewhere that Richard Hunt wanted to perform his characters (Scooter, Statler, Janice, and Beaker) for the Muppets Christmas Carol but that he couldn't due to being severely ill. Does anyone know if this is true?
Was Hunt aware...
I think even if Sesame Street were to end, it would still live on in yearly specials or talk show appearances. But, yeah, I have to agree. The show is a sad shell of what it used to be. Gone are the days of hilarious Bert & Ernie skits or Fat Blue and Grover. The 50th Anniversary special would...

RIP to Tony Bennet, he is the first guest star of season one of Muppets Tonight to pass away. Season 2 guest star Prince was the first to pass away altogether, followed by Don Rickles and Coolio (they co-starred in the same episode).
Very helpful list. Sad to see only 1/3 of the season 3 guest stars remain. It feels like the muppet show guest stars have been dying more than usual. RIP to Harry, Glenda, and Alan.
