It is 100% utter BULL that there is no Muppet stuff in stores. Sure, there's the Beaker ornament at hallmark, the FAO puppets at TRU and some misc shirts at some places. But thats it. The film is in about two weeks, and nothing. Tumbleweeds. People who say "be grateful for what we got" don't...
I'm with you...to me the Muppets never went away. Only from 1991-1994 did I not follow the Muppets hardly at all. But there's always been new Muppet content in various forms. I guess to most outsiders the Muppets are nostalgic act.
Im glad Bobo is in it, not many other post JH characters seem...
I have no interest in entertainer women(be they singers, actresses, performers, etc) based on looks, though I understand a lot of male bands or female actresses may appeal to people simply as eye candy. To me the more honest, human, warm and genuine the more sexy. That's why Im disappointed in...
The "main 5" in the 80's and 90's was Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo and Animal. Every postcard, merchandise, toy line, etc only featured those guys.
But somewhere in the late 90's I noticed Rizzo started getting merchandise, and got added to the main core. Then later the main core changed to...
Even though, as I sadly predicted, Disney has royally dropped the ball on merchandise/books/etc...as of right now I can't go ANYWHERE online without seeing animated Muppet banners and ads. I dont watch tv but I hear it's total muppet saturation. The Muppets are on two big newstand publications...
I think it's pretty clear there would be no film, no dream renaissance, none of this if it wasn't for Segal aggressively lobbying every day to Disney on the heels of his successful movie and tv show at the time.
Also, nice to finally have a clear copy of the Nightline special! Thank you Real...
Oh man I loved Pepper Ann. Yeah She Ra and Jem were awesome. Sadly you never had too much of that stuff...I can't imagine how tough it must be growing up in America as a girl when madison avenue and the idiocracy of society pretty much dictate a mostly male world and most of the female aimed...
I have no interest in blu rays really. You can tell the sharp difference in say, Pixar films...but for a lot of stuff, Ive seen blu ray films on 55" LCD screens and it doesnt get me "more" into the film. VHS to dvd, now THAT was a leap. This doesnt feel like a leap. Some of the blu ray films are...
Anyone who buys groceries and stands in a check out line has to see the cover of EW...tlak about muppet domination! And now with the possibility of Muppets on SNL and more talk shows, at the CMA, etc...thank you disney marketing machine!
I got all those:) I also got most the UK and Aus MFS stuff thanks to ebay about a decade ago. Ebay back in 1999-2002 was definitely a gosh-send for collectors
I know how you feel! I wish I had Muppet loving friends. Heck I'd seriously love to find a date for the movie(hence why I wear more and more Muppet shirts when Im at shows, shopping, etc)
Oh! Like a mini documentary...that'd rock! I have many films and animated features that have documentaries on the rise of a film's popularity and cult status. The special edition of Office Space, Big Lebowski and a lot of the DC animated movies have them
If anyone has noticed, dvds rarely even have bonus material anymore. They save it all for the blu ray version(ie: star trek 2009) or wait for the next christmas season to release some "special edition". Wouldnt be surprised if its a super bare bones release just to grab cash.
Aw that sucks. I seem to not get packages now and then. The Muppet Mosaic shirts I ordered from Threadless never got here, as well as some stuff I won on ebay
Finally, today my local Disneystore put up the muppet stuff...sure it was tucked away in the back, but I was absolutely thrilled to get that Pepe. He is pretty much the only muppet plush they had that looks perfect, can't wait for a smaller one. Hopefully the display will be moved to the front...
I don't care how it was back on TMS, Im just saying its 2011...wheres the cool female characters? I LOVE Zondra, Janice, Mildred...but speaking role female characters are far and few between. And Skeeter could be presented simply as Scooter's sister, doesnt have to acknowlege or tie into Muppet...
