yeah , its wierd how that is, u guys have a great glue over thier called THIXOFIX, works great on Foam latex and Foam rubber , but they dont sell it over here
perhaps in the UK, i have noticed differences in some products from US to UK,
but Gaffers tape is most defienetly no Duct tape,
if u want a bond that will hold, and wont get gooey with heat , or stretch ,and takes contct cement weel, use Gaffers tape, maybe a bit more expencie but it works...
ok , first suggestion, dont use Foam core its thick, and bacicly just paper , and it breaks down quickly, go to a craft or hobby store and buy some aircraft ply wood, its very thin, and very strong,

ok heres a even later response, i was not Bashing what Jim did, i work in that style myself, but i also work in many other styles as well, i think my point was more that for many people the only real understanding they have of Puppetry in general is the "Muppet"style.i think i was just sawing...

what ever works really, most i have seen have been made with 1" to 3/4" dowels inserted into a wooden base, about 8" to 12" inches across(circle or square doesnt really matter .
at the top , many people will make a soft tip to prevent damaging the inside of the puppet, wrap a piece of foam...
