I always loved things like the Muppet monsters and the things that would usually scare or creep other people out didn't have that effect on me. I just couldn't get enough of the weird stuff. But the Whistle a Happy Tune number from SST (episode 131 on the old school dvds) really creeped me...

I don't get much of a chance to listen to the Muppetcast since i can only do so at the library and the long length of the shows combined with my limited time to do everything else means not much Muppetcast listening for me (and it seems like the idea of putting it out on cd never went anywhere)...

I'm guessing it's just a new "theme" the latest shows are built around; like a different opening number mainly plus new sketch categories, puppets, etc. Same format but new elements to keep it fresh.

Even though it didn't creep me out, seeing it when i was around 7 yrs old, i thought the masks were taking the place of the Electric Mayhem - and i would try to figure out which mask was supposed to be which EM member! (Since they kept singing "Do you know who i am?" i figured it was a guessing...

You get the whole episode with opening & closing credits when you play an individual episode. Watching them via Play All removes the themes between episodes...maybe to (a) keep someone from getting sick of the theme and (b) to save the viewer doing marathon watching some time.

As far as i know, S&W never sang this. (Maybe they're thinking of It Was a Very Good Year?) Is your friend an obsessed Muppet fan? If not, it's doubtful he would have heard something none of us here are aware of. The only Muppet performance of Something Better outside from the Muppet Movie...
