Oh, I didn't mean to imply I thought he was deceased or anything. I just meant he was cool in the Sesame Street cartoon. And in general, present tense.
First off, I totally agree with what you said. Secondly, your Audrey Geisel analogy was brilliant and well deserved. Her prostitution of her husband's works isn't done to keep his memory alive, it's done to make her just that much richer. And Gawdalmighty, did Cat in the Hat ever SUCK!!!
I don't think Krazedmuppet was equating "not recognizing Kermit" sad with, say, "A tornado just wiped out an orphanage" sad, so I think your reply was a bit unnecessarily abrasive. Besides, to almost everyone on these boards, a kid not recognizing Kermit really is sad. What kind of Muppet fan...
Fix NOTHING!!! This is perfect and brilliant!!!! Fantastic work, my friend! And don't worry about the ears. You've already captured Ludo's essence to the letter!
I see what you're saying. But I'm referring mostly to the special effects, not the storyline (I tend to agree that it goes on longer in some scenes than necessary). The animatronic puppetry, in my view at least, was the perfect tool to tell this story. CGI does not equal perfection, and it will...
The Inchworm bit with Danny Kaye is one of my favorite Muppet moments ever. Danny Kaye was such a warm and funny performer, and I feel that he fit in perfectly on The Muppet Show. If anyone's interested, you can see his original performance of Inchworm in his film "Hans Christian Anderson." It's...
Evidently the good folks at Nickelodeon Studios (who brought us feature length versions of almost every Nick cartoon as well as the highly underrated Harriet the Spy movie) are making an H.R. Pufnstuf movie, due to be released through Paramount in 2007. Here's a link to IMDB for more details...
Hey, I'm just glad that they've brought Cookie Monster back to regular status on the show. Old clips of Frank Oz doing the character are great, but it's better to have some modern footage of Cookie to oggle (pun intended).
Good to be back, Vic, and thanks for the warm welcome! I moved to a new apartment back in late May and have only recentlly got my internet back up again. But I see there's been lots of cool Muppet discussions that I've been missing out on, and I'm anxious to get back on the boards.
These days, crossing puppeteers over to shows they didn't previously appear on has somewhat of a necessity. Steve never touched Sesame Street until he was betrothed Ernie and Kermit. I personally got a kind of cheap thrill seeing Dave Goelz perform the huge bird puppet in Elmo in Grouchland.
I always felt like Richard's Baby Scooter voice was similar to the "Frank Welker" voice, which is the cute, gurgly voice he created for tons of cartoon characters (such as Glomer from the Punky Brewster cartoon), and which was subsequently adopted by several voice artists like Dave Coulier...
Actually, Jim did do baby Kermit's voice in the movie. Just goes to show how talented he was that he could pull off a voice that even the fans wouldn't recognize as his.
