Not bad. I sent this to a couple of kids in my wife's Christian youth group who are crazy about The Hunger Games (fortunately, one of them is also crazy about The Muppets now).
That's a shame. I know he loves the Muppets so he wouldn't have made those comments lightly (although, as Jason so often does, he tried to keep the mood at least semi-light).
But he's right - the most important thing is that the Muppets are back in the public eye and will be taken seriously as...
I was somewhat hesitant about the concept of Walter but his emergence as a funny, loveable character was one of the best things about the new movie and I dearly hope he'll be back for the next flick and many more Muppet productions to come.
The Segel-Stoller script and Peter Linz in particular...
"I Wish I Could Be Santa Claus" is a bit of a sad song on the surface (especially given its placement in LTS, when it looks like Gonzo won't get Claire's letter to Santa) but I have found it to be sincere and encouraging upon repeat listenings, especially in the re-release of A Green and Red...
Box Office Mojo is reporting a North American gross of $88,482,000 as of today, March 4 (I'm surprised that this figure is still growing - it might actually catch GMC in terms of actual ticket sales after all!) and an overseas gross of $65,000,000-plus.
Lookin' good, folks...lookin' MIGHTY good! :)
To help shed some light on why I'm so thrilled at the Muppet pop-culture permeation (before and after the new movie's release) I'm going to wind the clock back ten years.
The first Spider-Man movie had just hit theatres. I went to see it with my best friends from high school - we loved it...
I was feeling really sad about reading this list (especially John Denver and Gilda Radner) until I got to the picture of Beverly Sills with Gonzo - spoons-from-the-nose and all - and then I smiled again.
So far, so good in the two months I've been a member here - my "I'll believe it when I see it" post on the Sequel-Speculation thread seems to have been treated with respect, as were pretty much all the other posts I've left here.
I don't mind the No-Pessimism thread. I don't see it as a means...
That's a good one. I also like Kermit going through the heist-prevention checklist: "Peanut butter?" Floyd: "Animal ate it all!" Animal: "Sorry..." Those are all funny lines on their own. Together, they rock.
Bobo got off a few good ones in the much-maligned MFS. "There now, how'd that work out...
D'Snowth: Really? I'm sorry to hear that. I ran into that on other forums, but we were always able to work it out and respect each other's opinions. Hopefully that will be the case here. (I always have a certain level of cynicism in this regard, especially when it comes to Muppet projects, since...
I know a lot of people here didn't like this song but I really enjoyed it. It was a fun, cheesy departure from The Muppets' other songs and a great duet-without-being-a-duet for Amy Adams and Miss Piggy. (And, come on...The singing food! How can you go wrong with the singing food?!?)
Watching...
Touching on a few themes that have come up here (thanks to everybody for their great discussion, by the way - I've really enjoyed reading these posts):
1. I'm in "I'll believe it when I see it" mode (absolutely no offense meant to theprawncracker) but I'm enthused to hear even preliminary...
2:55 - "Speaking on behalf of the global community of puppets and puppet governments..." :D:D:D
One of my favourite things about the last few years of Muppet productions (especially the virals and the new movie) has been the re-emergence of Scooter. I've always considered him to be a vastly...
Picking up on a recurring theme from the last two posts - I actually didn't mind the slight changes to the lyrics in a couple of these songs (I actually think it's kind of cute when Andrew Bird sings that "it would be nicer being red or gold or aquamarine"), or to the melody in "Rainbow...
The only time I heard anybody say "Sheldon was the best part of the movie" or some such thing was when my 11-year-old niece posted on FB that it was one of her favourite parts and several of her friends came on board to agree...why a bunch of sixth-graders are watching The Big Bang Theory (a...
I voted for "Saying Goodbye," simply because it epitomizes one of the problems I've always had with TMTM - the concept of the Muppets breaking up (although I realize that's partly what drove the new movie). The fact that it resurfaced in the media coverage of Jim Henson's death only cements the...
I'm somewhat torn on this.
I agree with Sgt. Floyd (and others) that it's annoying to see somebody quote an entire comment or post insipid one-word answers just because they found a thread on something that interests them.
I can also see the trouble with a topic regarding a highly-anticipated...
I finally listened to the Oscar-winning Norma Rae song ("It Goes How It Goes" by Jennifer Warnes) on YouTube this morning. It's not bad - quite pretty as a matter of fact - but it struck me as a bit cliched and repetitive.
I'm probably biased as I have 32 years of experience with "Rainbow...
