I remember a mixture of some sort of cheap fire retardent you could use to treat scenery in one of my old textbooks. If I rememeber correctly, you could either brush it on or spray it on. Does this ring a bell with anyone?
I finally got to see the end (for some reason when I watched it through the direct link you posted, it would stall out about 4 mins before the end -- I watched it through the embedded player on your site and it worked fine). It was very ambitious and really came together well.
The only...
I've actually used a regular medium-soft bristled hair brush to do this. It seems to work just as well -- and not having the metal bristles lessens the likelihood of ripping holes in the fleece.
I was told something by an audio engineer a few months ago -- and everyone may want to watch out for this, if it's true...
Apparently, the FCC has taken a lot of the frequencies used by older wireless mics for use in Cell Phones and Wi Fi recently... the upside is there's plenty of band for...
I just used photoshop to flip the images. I see in both that the right eye (that is, the eye that is on the right side of the screen) is higher than the other. That might be some of your problem.
And never be afraid of patterning. It took me a long time to figure out that there's nothing wrong...
I would put it on your hand and look into a mirror. There's something about having artwork reveresed (puppets included) that makes things that are out of symmetry really apparent.
I would also see if I could take a picture with the upper mouthplate more parallel to the floor -- that way, you...
I think there's a lot of interest in puppets right now -- if not by Hollywood types, then with the audience is extremely hungry for this sort of thing. I've experienced the same wonder and willingness to help out of just about everyone that I've told about my little movie project. I say we just...
I used to use latex rug backing on some of my projects. Using ripped up tissue paper, I could sort of use it like paper mache (using the rug backing liquid instead of the wheat paste). I never used it on puppets, but did make some pretty cool Klingon forehead pieces.
That was EXCELLENT! I'm amazed at how you were able to sustain the audience's interest for such a long song. You can only attributr it to the great puppetry performance. We could all take a lesson from this video!
Thanks!
I remember an article that Buck wrote on Puppetvision (or maybe it was here on Muppet Central -- I'm too lazy to look) a long time ago about "taking puppetry to the next level." This little project is my attempt to do that.
I'm getting kind of tired of the "two guys behind a couch"...
You know what this would work really well for? Patterning.
You could sculpt something out of foam or clay, put some sort of release agent on it, then spray on the fabric. Once dry, you could cut it off, make it lie flat, then make a pattern to then make the same shape out of fleece or fur or...
Here are some pictures of the set. I also have made some new puppets but haven't had a chance to photgraph them yet. In the meantime, enjoy!
