This kind of rides on the whole piracy/copyright thing in general. I'm sure people who oppose the sale of muppet replicas wouldn't copy a CD or a DVD or bootleg software. How about just live and let live. I'm not crazy on the muppet replica thing, but if people want to do it, thats their own...
I've always wondered how a caricature of a person can be made as a puppet. I can draw caricatures but I believe the process is a little different.
Anyone have any ideas or tips on doing a puppet that liiks like a person?
The Easy way to make nice clean cirular muppet pupils
Albeit not the genuine muppet method.
I basically just did what Kanja Chen did (on his Darth Maul) with electrical tape, only instead of cutting it with an exacto or a scissor to a perfectly neat circle I ran it through a circle paper punch...
For any of you puppeteer/filmmakers out there looking for a soundman, a friend of mine is offering his services as a pro audio engineer for free on short films. He's looking to build up his portfolio. He also does ADR work. If you're interested, contact me.
Heres his myspace page.
I saw some of them behind the scenes clips on swazzle. One of them showed one of the builders painting the pupils on the eyes.
How do they do this with enough precision for the eyes to be in the right place? Do they draw on it first? How is it measured? Does one paint the eyes before or after...
I recently started using those little CD spindle foam rings in my puppet projects. If you own a CDR Drive, you definitely know what these are. Very useful. Good for blinking eyes a la Floyd Pepper.
Anyhoo. I was curious if anyone knows of any companys that manufacture polyfoam in weird shapes?
Yeah. I saw that one. It is a wee bit pricy.
If someone with a knowlege of animatronics were to put together a kit with all the parts required and some instructions all at a cheaper price, they'd make a killing.
Yeah. But something like a local access TV show in my area doesn't exist to my knowlege. Most of the puppetry stuff in brooklyn involves marionettes and some educational groups who use puppetry. All the cool stuff is in manhattan.
Its not a ProjectPuppet.com puppet. Its YOUR puppet made with a projectpuppet.com pattern. (I know thats obvious but its just the way that sounded.)
By the way. Your puppet it frickin awesome. I'm curious, how did you make the pupils? They're very precise. I've always had trouble with "The...
Was the Henson technique for puppet manipulation ever documented? I know Henson taught everyone he worked with certain rules on manipulation of puppets. Were there any books written on hand puppet manipulation by Henson or anyone else in general?
How about animatronic parts? Just a basic thing that moves back and fourth under radio control?
Most of the stuff I find in RC catalogs are engines and wheels and stuff. I'm talking basic back and fourth movements.
Are there any places online that sell premade animatronic mechanisms with controls ready to use? Are there kits available that require assembly? For Eyelids, Moving Eyes and the like?
Is there such a thing as liquid polyfoam that could be poured into a mold? I have seen this weird liquid polyfoam that hardens to a very stiff blob which is used to float boats. I've also seen that liquid spray stuff used for insulation or stuffing up holes in walls.
Is there such a thing as...
