    R.I.P. Morley Safer

Morley got to interview the Muppets on the Show set in 1979. Hysterical watching Piggy making eyes at him. He was tracking up so much he had tears coming down his face. That must've been a fun gig. Worth checking out on YouTube .

Remembering Jim Henson, 26 years after May 16, 1990

I still miss Jim as much as anybody. He will always influence me in being creative and how to live life. That's a point some people miss. Life is too brief to waste on things that don't matter. Things you can't change, like weather. People you can't change, like celebrities or politicians. The...

    Buffy discussion thread

Buffy was introduced in episode 814 while in New Mexico, she visits a Pueblo with Maria and Big Bird. I remember her days on the Street (I'm old enough to have been there). She wasn't around long, but she was special.

    Favorite Seinfeld moments?

I'm surprised George would want to wear velvet. As a fabric, it doesn't breathe. He should stick with cotton, like the Yankees uniforms he ordered. Or best of all... Gore-Tex! 8)

    When you need to rant...

Intolerance is not good for anybody. But some of the anti-Trump protestors aren't much better, having ten-year-olds shouting "F*** Trump!" and giving the finger. How can they be taking a higher moral ground when they're stooping to his level? Two wrongs don't make a right.

    The "You know what?" thread

That's the one thing about the Krofft's shows that drove me nuts. It would be nice to have some closure and know Jimmy and Freddie made it back home. We're left hanging with the Bugaloos too. Mark is stuck in Liddsville. Sigmund seems happy leaving his family behind. At least the Marshalls made...

What is up with these DISTURBING commercials, lately?

Maybe a lot of commercials don't disturb me so much... maybe...maybe...maybe... because ....I...cut..DOWN...on...how...much...time...I...spend...in...front...of...the...screen...Might...work..for...others...if..not... everybody ...but..they're...your...eyes...

    What's your favorite Beatles Song?

"Sun King" was inspired by Fleetwood Mac's "Albatross". During the Get Back/Let it Be sessions, The Beatles recorded some neat versions of current hits. Even with the Anthology series and a ton of bootlegs, there's still a crap load of unreleased gems (some garbage) from these sessions.

    What's your favorite Beatles Song?

This is like trying to pick one Sesame skit. I can narrow it down to five, with a little effort: 1. A Hard Day's Night 2. Bad Boy 3. Fixing A Hole 4. It's All Too Much 5. You Know My .Name (Look Up the Number)

    Favorite Theme Song

Any of the Norman Lear sitcoms from the 70's: All in the Family, Maude, Good Times, The Jeffersons, and Sanford and Son. One closing theme: Sesame Street 1969-1992. I'm sorry young critters. They can update the theme ten times to Sunday, but they'll never EVER replace Toots Thelemans'...

    Songs You Can't Stand

20 years ago or more, all we had to put up with not liking was "I'm Too Sexy For My Shirt". Oh, the pangs of nostalgia. 8)

    The breakfast cereal thread

In 1999 McD's had those Sesame mini beanies. I got a few, just happy they remembered Guy Smiley, Betty Lou, and Sherlock Hemlock. If they ever came out with Roosevelt Franklin, forget it. Who could ask for more.

You Ever Notice...and What's the Deal...

People have notoriously short memories. After the gas crisis of 1979 (and a botched hostage crisis) within two years, it seemed everybody was driving a compact. No more gas guzzlers. Then every decade, there would be this ebb and flow. Gas prices drop, people get bigger cars. Around 2004, there...

You Ever Notice...and What's the Deal...

There's always a rise this time of year leading up to Memorial Day, then it should level off. Two bucks a gallon is still pretty steep, but it's still half of what it was at the end of George Dubya's term.

The Rock, Hair Metal, and Whatever Thread

Retro-bumping this thread. One cool story when Ian Gillan was Black Sabbath's singer. They were about to start a tour, Gillan had a week to learn thirty songs. He couldn't remember lyrics, and in the days before Teleprompters, he had the lyrics spread out on notebooks along the edge of the...

You Ever Notice...and What's the Deal...

At any outdoor event, where they have those rows of Porta-johns, there is no discrimination. Stand in line, first come, first serve. In today's politically correct universe, especially in schools, anyone who has a revelation they had an identity change, there will be a committee that will end...

TV shows and movies turned into comic books

I just found an old Tale Spin comic, a print version of the pilot. In 1990 the Disney Afternoon was becoming something really special (getting better every year), it's nice they tried to give it some ink room too. I also have all 13 issues of the Marvel/Star Ewoks series (concurrent with their...
