Assuming that "Sesame Street" is still being shown on Noggin, whether every week or every two weeks, what was the episode that aired last week... The morning after Mother's Day? I wonder if they chose an episode with a Mother's Day flavor to it.
Caroll didn't mention the rapper by name. He did mention that the rapper was never invited back. Come to think of it, I wonder if they even completed or aired the skit.
Didn't he do one called, "What Do You Do When You're a Kangaroo"?
Joe had a voice in "I Am A Fine Musician" song - the trombone verse.
It's also been stated in Muppet Central that he also was the voice of the unnamed Cookie Monster in "Everyone Likes Ice Cream". (It sounds plausible enough.)
Yes, this is true. I found it kind of cute that his spoken voice was Jim Henson, sounding like Rowlf, but his singing voice (prerecorded of course) became Jerry's.
I want to be able to do that, to have my singing voice become Jerry's --- because he can really sing, and I can't. :)
You can hear the English version on the CD-ROM Sesame Street Numbers. It's part of the "radio show" users hear when they choose to listen to the radio.
I don't know which Muppeteer could have successfully replaced Don Music. The voice? That could be done. But the voice and the personality? Harder act to follow. Richard threw himself into that role.
I find it interesting that Matt did come back at some point to record with Roscoe Orman (the current Gordon) as Hard Head Henry.
Which brings me to something I've often pondered: there was a Roosevelt Franklin School scene in the Stevie Wonder episode, during the time Hal Miller would have...
The great thing about Don Music is that you can apply his bit to almost any song, even in popular culture.
Here's one:
"You're so vain.... you think this song is about.....
you think this song is about.....
er..er.. this song is about....
Oh, I'll never get it! What is this song...
That's a good question, I've often wondered that. Especially since Jim used a lot of his monsters used in the first year of SS: Beautiful Day, Green Grover, an unnamed Cookie Monster, that dragon/dinosaur thing "in the box", ..... Splurge. :D
I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation, like...
Awww..... well I can understand his being scared of the 1969 Mahna Mahna on Sesame Street. That's a pretty freaky, crude looking thing with an eerie voice. At least the one on the Muppet Show is cute..... well, cuter.
Re: Re: Guys,
One more thing I should mention if this description doesn't suffice: the monster in question also appears in the background in Cookie Monster's "Me Gotta Be Blue", found on the "I'm Glad I'm Me".
Just a speculation, but probably just an Anything Muppet who didn't have a name. If he did have a name, he was probably just called "Mahna Mahna".
He's kind of scary - but a cool kind of scary.
I believe in the TV version, the monster in the story was Beautiful Day Monster, but I'm not sure. In the storybook version, of course, the monster was Herry.
You shouldn't have too much trouble finding the Sesame Street Book & Record LP and the hardcover Time-Life books on eBay. If they're not up for auction today, they could be up soon.
