Ok...there were (at least) two separate first-run transmission blocks in 88. The first one ran from 10 Jan to probably mid-April (I don't have confirmation on this, but there definitely wasn't a show aired during the week of 23-29 April) and the second began on 4 September and was still running...

No, it was the first run for these shows. It looks as if the show was switched from Saturdays (Season 1) to Thursdays (Season 2) to Sundays (where, so far as I can tell, it stayed for the remainder of the episodes).

No; the show mainly aired on Saturday or Sunday mornings. There was a run of episodes on CITV, but this seems to have been the exception rather than the rule :-)
