I believe they were just regular actors, not those who would play Bob, Maria, etc. What was mentioned earlier was that the singer was Marilyn Sokol, who often played a lot of prerecorded female voices in the early days.
Theoretically, you could output material from a Betamax onto a VHS or onto another format as long as you had the proper wiring. That is possible, isn't it?
I'm reminded by a scene from the Simpsons where Springfield is being looted, and one of the criminal characters runs away with a video...
This is very likely an obvious question about format to everyone else, but not to me. Please :o with me. (heh heh)
Are VCD's cassettes that are the same thing as mini-DV tapes? Or are they another format altogether?
Sorry for the switch off-topic, folks!
What I find interesting is to learn that Kermit Love is responsible for the design of some of the full bodied puppets in the Big Bird role. Samson, the bear in Germany was already mentioned. I think I remember one special where they showed Caroll in Israel, showing how to walk in the bird feet.
This thought came to my mind after I saw James Gandolfini on Sesame Street. If a new Muppet show or special were to happen, which "Sopranos" performer would you think would work well with the Muppets? They needn't necessarily appear in their "Sopranos" roles, which might be a good thing.

Hey Fran,
As well as continued success with Muppets, I hope to see you performing in TV and movies. You've contributed a lot of entertainment to the world! :)
I still have yet to see the show - don't seem to watch most late-night TV on the networks anymore - but I may tune in. Statler and Waldorf, that ought to be fun.
I seem to remember Caroll Spinney making some reference to the Jimmy Kimmel show when he was on Wayne Brady. Something about the...
I think that clip was done by Jim Henson. It has the same feel as "King of 8". I believe someone here said they saw a sketch of it at a Henson exhibit.
I thought those were good bits. And those are two issues about nighttime that the target audience could identify with, being scared of that weird figure in the dark and having bad dreams.
That's difficult to say, considering the new format of the show doesn't really allow for too many cartoons or films unless they are about the letter/number of the day or somehow are related to the "street" storyline in the first part of the show. And of course, the seasons have now been reduced...
According to the "Sesame Street Unpaved" special in 1999, a segment of this was aired with a caption that it was indeed Grace Slick with Jefferson Airplane.
Gems, all of those.
I'd like to add another: an animation teaching 1-20 using birds. I'm pretty sure it was by the Hubleys. Pretty jazz music in the background and male singing vocal. Sometimes I put this in the same category as the song "Little Birdie" in the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special.
I've often wondered something else regarding the 5¢ gumball machine in Jazz #5... was that cartoon dubbed in other languages to show to other countries? And if so, did they have to deal with the "5¢" part? I don't really expect a definite answer, just once of those things that make you go...
Well, the Twiddlebug family does actually live in Ernie's window box. Sometimes Ernie introduces them by pondering aloud what the Twiddlebugs are up to today.
There was one with the Count that was done during the Florida recount. I don't have it handy, but I bet there were a number of them and not difficult to locate.
